A funny thought hit me just now. You see, gambling has been a part of video games since the dawn of gaming pretty much. I mean, you could find casino (or gambling in general) elements in games such as “Dungeon Keeper”, “Fallout”, “System Shock”, “The Witcher”, “Red Dead: Redemption”, “Watch Dogs” with many others. Furthermore, then you got full-blown gambling  games of that kind as well (like “Vegas Tycoon”, “Casino, Inc.”, “Casino Tycoon”, “Casino Empire” with many others).

So, do you feel lucky punk?! Well, actually, sometimes the monsters win, sometimes you win.

Even so, I still remember the casino’s from “Dungeon Keeper” 1 and 2 the most. Because the gambling aspect played a big part of the game, and truth be told. It was darn fun to rig the games against your own monsters (you got them to waste their paychecks away in your casinos). To be fair though, the money obtained from the casinos was very much-needed. As you used it to wage war against your foes (in the case with Dungeon Keeper, you actually play the role as the bad guys fighting the good guys).

Yes, you can build casinos in ”Dungeon Keeper 2” as well.

I also have memories from trying to win a lot of money by playing on the slot machines in “System Shock 2. However, I don’t recall that I ever won a lot of money playing on those machines. Then again, I was way too busy staying alive and trying to kill things that came my way (and that would include everything from suicide bomber robots, cyborg ninjas, mutated lab monkeys to space zombies). Even so, I’m pretty curious to find out if the slot machines will return in the remake of the original “System Shock” game? Well, time will tell.

You do not want to mess with those bouncers. Well, at least not until you got some really good gear.

Nevertheless, I still think that it’s the “Fallout” series that has some of THE coolest casino elements ever created in the world of games.  I’m of course aware that there exist quite a few Fallout games, mods and whatnot nowadays, but in my book, “Fallout 2” is still number one in my heart. Because I have probably spent more time on that game, then I’ve spent on any other game in my whole life. So naturally, I soon realized that I could earn quite a lot of money by trying my luck by at some of the game’s  gambling spots. A word of advice though, you need to have some really impressive luck and intelligence stats in-order to improve your chances of winning anything (click here for all the up to date info).

Sadly enough though, it’s one thing being lucky in the world of games, and a whole another thing being lucky in real-life. Then again, yolo right? 😉
