2016 has had a pretty darn good start with the release of some huge games like of “Farcry Primal“, “The Division“, “Plants Vs Zombies Garden Warfare” and my personal favorite “Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth“. However, we have some major releases coming to PS4 in the next few months. And most of them will (with no doubts whatsoever) blow the minds of gamers worldwide. As we got a nice variety of action, adventure and an all-new experience a head of us. So I think it´s safe to say that 2016 is going to be one hell of a good year for the PS4! (Keep in mind all games listed are the ones with a definitive release date).

DOOM (The gates of hell open May 13th):

doom 2016

Will “Doom” rock or suck on release?

Well, I can’t possibly start such a list without talking about this glorious gore fest. After spending time with the closed beta and watching countless trailers showing off Doom’s campaign, this game looks to be one hell of a beast. It has the makings of an awesome game, campaign, multiplayer and creation tools giving Bethesda’s demonic romp plenty of content to keep people busy! The guns and plentiful, loud and brazen harking back to what made the classic games so good. The fast-paced action, gore and pure bad assery puts Doom in the line up to be one of the best FPS games of the year!

Uncharted 4 (Adventure awaits May 10th):

uncharted 4 a thiefs end ps4

Does “Uncharted 4” have what it takes to top all the previous titles in the series?

Uncharted 4 looks very, very pretty. In fact, the game seems to have what it takes to become one of the most visually outstanding releases of all time. And we’ve been patiently waiting for it for a while despite a few delays it’s finally coming out May 13th (If it doesn’t, then manly tears will be shed). The gameplay is looking fantastic. And nothing compares to the set pieces Naughty Dog have in store from epic car chases to intense finger biting moments, with Drake fighting for his life. And just recently, we got a taste of things to come with the Multiplayer beta. As the MP beta didn’t fail to impress thanks to its fluid movement, excellent combat and brilliant visuals (did I mention this game is pretty?) This looks to be one of the best adventure games to release this year. And if you’re still on the fence about buying a PS4, this game might get your butt into gear and get stuck in.

Dark Souls 3 (Prepare to die yadayada April 12th):

dark souls 3 ps4

When death calls 3.0.

PREPARE TO DIE AGAIN, words you’ll probably see tagged to any article related to “Dark Souls 3”, but let’s be honest now. You’ve had a good few Souls games under your belt, and you should know what you’re doing by now, right? No, not really, see “Dark Souls 3” lures you into thinking things aren’t so bad and then bam. You’re dead by a one-hit kill from a boss who doesn’t seem as predictable like the bosses of old. Well maybe you will die a lot but golly gosh. What were you expecting, a walk in the park? This isn’t some holiday where you take your sword, shield and magic flask for a few hours of happy time.

No, this is a test of metal, whether you can perceiver the challenges ahead. Harrowing adventures aside, “Dark Souls 3” also looks very pretty, there are some influences from PlayStation’s Bloodborne” as well. As the combat is certainly faster and the visuals look just as nice (If not better). Dark Souls 3 will (with no doubt) become one of the most unforgiving, challenging but also rewarding games to release this year.

Final Fantasy 15 (The Fantasy that’s never final releases September 30th):

final fantasy 15 ps4

FFXV will “hopefully” rock our world in September this year.

FFXV is possibly the biggest Final Fantasy game to release thus far, it looks to be a return to greatness for the franchise that has stumbled slightly with a few average releases in the last few years. The combat has been revamped. The visuals look better than ever, and the story looks to be a blast too. The scale also plays an important factor, and there are some humongous monsters you’ll come across leaving your jaw dropped to the floor and the summons well, they need to be seen to be believed. Recently a new demo released showing off even more of the game without spoiling too much, dream sequences are to be expected with a nice Alice in Wonderland twist. “Final Fantasy 15” has been in development since 2006, so let’s hope the wait has been worthwhile!

No Man’s Sky (IT’S OUT ON MY BIRTHDAY! June 24th):

no mans sky ps4

Will “No Man´s Sky” be worth all the wait?

“No Man’s Sky” is the biggest game ever made; in fact, it’s so big it’s one of those games that no one is going to believe until they have finally played it. I mean, eighteen Quintillion planets is almost incomprehensible, (yes, the game is that massive to size). And that means that “if” you spent a second on each planet our sun would have burned out and you will be dead (Yes, really!). Every player will start on their own planet in their own system and will likely never meet another player in the game because let’s face it. If 1 million people play this game, that’s one million out 18 QUINTILLION and if you divide that by that 1 million, then ehrm (I only got a D in Maths, so you´ll have to figure that one out for yourselves).

Such scale would make encounters with other players rare but at the same time thrilling, do you trade, hangout or blow them into the void? Furthermore, the game features “Planet sized planets” which basically means one planet is the size of our Earth or even bigger, there’s even ringed planets, Icey planets, toxic ones and well, who knows. If you love Sci-fi adventures, then this game is the one for you.

Ratchet and Clank (Nuts N Bolts galore April 22nd):

ratchet n clank ps4

It´s been three long years since the last time we saw a new Ratchet game (Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus). So one can only hope that the brand-new title will make the series hot again.

“Ratchet and Clank” are returning to PlayStation with a nice shiny fresh coat of fur, a skin of metal and a gun that makes enemies dance (including tanks). Also did you know there’s going to be a movie too? (Yep, there are going to be a “Ratchet and Clank” movie) This isn’t a re-master more like a re-imagining it looks gorgeous and has some of that classic platforming action that feels like it has been gone forever. Jam packed full of humour, gadgets and entertaining challenges “Ratchet and Clank” look to be a fantastic treat for gamers of all ages!

PlayStation VR (Definitely October):

playstation vr

Don´t piss (or shit) your pants while using the Playstation VR headset. That´s the free pro-tip of the day.

Now PS VR isn’t exactly a game as it’s a piece of Hardware (Who knew right?), but it’s without a doubt one ofthe biggest tech releases for PlayStation 4 this year. VR is a very exciting piece of hardware because it’s something that’s been on the cards for years and seen in films like “Toys” (They called it the Woozy) it’s always been a wish list of sorts, and now it’s finally happening. With the release of PSVR, we also get a whole bunch of thrilling games such as “Battlezone”, “Rigs”, “Until Dawn”, “VR experiences” and much more. You can even play your current games in a virtual cinema; imagine playing Resogun on your own personal IMAX screen. At £350, the Playstation VR is a pretty expensive addition to the PS4. However, it’s cheaper than other devices on the market (and is selling like hot cakes). Personally, I pre-ordered my device and just need to sit and wait until October.

This is just a slice of what’s coming to PlayStation in 2016. We still have a whole bunch of games to receive official release dates (titles such as “Horizon Zero” “Dawn”, and “The Last Guardian”, for example). Even so, the next couple of months is going to be full of thrill moments for the PS4 users.

So, with that said. Which PS4 games are you the most excited about and why? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below.
