I feel somewhat ashamed that it’s been such a long time since I wrote a new cosplay post (the last time I did that was by the end of June when I wrote about PattieCosplay’s sexy cosplay of Nitocris from “Fate/Grand Order”). Well, the lengthy wait is now over.
You see, just the other night I found out about Maru Anirevo’s sexy cosplay of Lum (aka Lum Invader) from “Urusei Yatsura”, and right off the bat. I haven’t seen or heard anything about “Urusei Yatsura” for years (I think the last time I saw anything “Urusei Yatsura” related was back in the late 90s).
Lum is the female protagonist from Rumiko Takahashi’s manga and anime series Urusei Yatsura. The anime aired between 1981 and 1986 at a total of 195 episodes, while the manga ran between 1978 and 1987 with 34 volumes released in total. It’s also worthy point out that twelve OVAs and six theatrical movies were released as well.
Anyways, I didn’t know anything about Maru before now, and it was just by pure luck that I even saw her Lum cosplay as well (I saw one of her Lum pictures on our Twitter timeline). Good thing that though, because Maru did a really great job with her Lum cosplay! And speaking of which, for those who don’t know Maru from before. Here’s a short description about her by Maru herself:
A little About Me
“I’ve been cosplaying since 2012, and have only really gotten into it the past 3 years. I live in Vancouver Canada, but I moved from a small town in Northern BC in 2010. Before cosplay, drawing and painting were my creative outlets. I’ve been drawing since I was very young, I started traditionally painting at 12, and digital painting at 17. I used to draw and paint lots of fan art from my favourite video games since those were a huge part (and still are a huge part) of my life.
I went to school for nursing, however, I dropped out after my first year (it wasn’t for me). After that, I got a degree in accounting.”
How I Started Cosplay
“I think I had always wanted to do it (become the characters I admire in my video games) I just didn’t know quite how yet. Coming from a small town and growing up during the early 2000’s made it pretty hard to be a nerd. I drew anime characters, it was not that cool of a hobby and cosplay would have been even weirder. However, when I moved to Vancouver, I heard about some of the anime conventions there and figured I’d try to cosplay. I wasn’t hooked instantly, but over time I started to really enjoy the creation of costumes.”
Why I Keep Cosplaying
“I really like making stuff, but more so I like the feeling I get when people comment that I’ve cosplayed their favorite character, and we can talk about the series. I’ve met so many friends through just cosplaying a particular character, it’s so amazing and inspiring.”
Things I Cosplay
“I love video games- Almost as much as I love cosplaying. So it’s no surprise that most of my cosplays are of video game characters. In particular, Final Fantasy, Legend of Zelda, League of Legends, Overwatch, and recently anything with a FromSoft logo. Some of my dream projects are Lady Maria (Bloodborne), Yuria of Londor (Dark Souls 3), Sakizo Terra (Final Fantasy 6) and Teir 5 Warlock (World of Warcraft).”
So, what about those sexy Lum cosplay pictures that I mentioned before then? Well, you will find what you’re looking for down below 😉
If this doesn’t get you interested in watching or reading “Urusei Yatsura”, then nothing will be able to convince you to check that series out.
That’s pretty darn impressive huh? Well, if you like what you’ve seen so far, then I’m happy to inform you that Maru has done plenty more cosplays than her cosplay of Lum. Yes, that’s right, because since Maru has cosplayed since 2012, she has managed to do a whole lot of different cosplays over the years.
I’m not exaggerating either. Because she has cosplayed as everything from Android 21 (“Dragon Ball”), Tracer (“Overwatch”), Zero Two (“DARLING in the FRANXX”), Rey (“Star Wars”), Ahri (“League of Legends”), Mary Jane Watson (“Spider-Man”), Lola Bunny (“Space Jam”), Samus Aran (“Metroid”) to the sexy girl from “MeMeMe!”. That’s also why I can’t wait to see what Maru will come up with next.
As for here and now though, here’s the rest of Maru’s smoking hot Lum cosplay :3
