As most of you already know by now, I (Robin Ek, TGG) am a huge fan of “Doom” and “Brutal Doom“. So as you might remember, I did a review for Sergeant Mark IV’s “Brutal Doom 64” last year where I gave the game a 4.5/5 grade (don’t forget to check out my “Brutal Doom 64” gameplay video!). Well, guess what? I just found out via Andrew Hulshult that “Brutal Doom 64” won the “Fan Creation Of The Year” award at SXSW Gaming Awards 17:
“Thanks to everyone who voted and gave Brutal Doom 64 the win for SGtMarkIV! Accepting the “Fan Creation Of The Year” award at the IGN SXSW awards for SGtMarkIV” – Andrew Hulshult
I’m very happy to hear this, but I can’t say that I’m all that surprised. Because “Brutal Doom 64” became extremely popular in a very short period of time (the mod has an 8.3/10 average grade and a 113 of 28,998 popularity ranking via modDB.com). Furthermore, people who weren’t even interested in “Doom 64” gave “Brutal Doom 64” a try, and they loved the game! (like my brothers, for example). In other words, it was just a matter of time before “Brutal Doom 64” were to win an award for something. Anyways, congratulations to Sergeant Mark IV to his “Fan Creation Of The Year” award =) And may he create many more awesome mods and games in the future.
