Corona Labs to Present Workshop Followed by 24 Hour Hackathons in Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kochi, Chennai and New Delhi.

Press release:
New Delhi, India – June 1st, 2016 – The National Association of Software and Services Companies today announced that in partnership with Corona Labs by Perk, as part of a two year engagement, they will present a series of Hackathons in June and July 2016 across Indian city game hubs Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kochi, Chennai and New Delhi.

Each Corona Hackathon will be spread over two days. On the first day the Hackathon will begin with a three-hour seminar for games developers to learn the basics of Corona tools and modules that will provide them with the power to build great apps with the free Corona SDK. The second day will include a full 24 hour Hackathon, as aspiring and established games developers build a game with Corona SDK. Judges will award a winner in each city who demonstrates a new idea, concept or approach to games design, with the winner from each city’s Hackathon receiving a trip to NGDC 2016, a stand to present their winning game at the show and consultations from Corona experts and the jury.

“We are excited to partner with NASSCOM to provide the tools and training developers need to develop faster and more efficiently to survive in the competitive mobile environment,” said Roj Niyogi, CEO of Corona Labs. “We look forward to seeing the high quality games and apps from across India that will be built with Corona SDK in the NASSCOM hackathon series.”

“With Hackathons taking place, in the most important games development hubs throughout India, we are excited to partner with Corona Labs”, said Rajesh Rao, Chairman of NASSCOM Gaming Forum. “The two day format, kicking off with a seminar and workshop and then a 24 hour Hackathon, provides developers with the perfect platform to develop new interesting apps, with the winners given the opportunity to share of their award winning games at this year’s NGDC in Pune”.

NGDC 2016 will feature 3 days of dedicated tracks focused on indies, game design, publishing/advertising, game art and technology, production and serious games. The agenda will be curated by the NGDC Content team and an International Advisory Council. With an expo floor featuring Indian games, country pavilions and a new virtual reality pavilion, NGDC 2016 is shaping up as the biggest showcase of Indian games development and business talent, and the ‘go to’ event for International participants looking at the India opportunity. The NASSCOM Gaming Forum Awards 2016 will also recognise achievements in Indian games development and encourage the creation of original innovative IP in India.
