Here we go again. Yet another DDos attack, and the target is once again disabled Gamers. In this case though, the attack was not aimed against one individual. No, this time it was “AbleGamers” that got DDos attacked.

And my first thought was of course “Who would do something like this? And why?”. Besides the most obvious reasons and explanations (trolls, haters and script kiddies), i started to dig deeper into this DDoS attack case.

Because at this time (and to my knowledge), there´s no suspect (or suspects) that´s been nailed down for the attack. But guess what? When i checked AbleGamers homepage just now.

I still don´t understand why anyone would DDos attack Ablegamers?

I might just have found a clue on who it was that attacked AbleGamers. As it turns out, the pornstar “Mercedes Carrera” donates money to AbleGamers.

There´s nothing wrong with that of course, but Mercedes Carrera just happens to be on the #GamerGate bandwagon.

Does that ring any bells? Before i proceed with my thoughts and speculations on this subject.

I want to point out that AbleGamers haven’t blamed anyone for the attack. With that said, let´s use some logic thinking.

Mercedes Carrera is down with #GamerGate, she donates money to AbleGamers (which btw has raised over $167,000 this year).

So i find it very hard to believe that anyone from the #GamerGate movement would have DDos attacked AbleGamers.

Who ever uses (used) those IP adresses, also DDos attacked Ablegamers.

So, who´s left of the suspects? Well, you got the #Anti GamerGate movement (which has attacked disabled people in the past) and the SWJ´s (they HATE Mercedes Carrera). But it could also be a lone wolf hacker (that´s not on anyone´s side) that just did it for the fun of it.

But no matter who did it. It´s still a disgusting and stupid act. So i just hope that the long arm of the law will catch those who ever did this to AbleGamers.

On December 5 2014, we received an email requesting permission for a charity event from an associate of Mercedes Carrera. The email had very few details other than “Would you be okay if a porn star raised money for your cause and donated it to you?”

As a sex positive organization, our immediate response was “Absolutely. We would be honored to be chosen.” After we gave permission, AbleGamers Twitter account began receiving messages about the upcoming charity drive including a link to a Reddit post detailing the event.
