By now you’re familiar with #Gamergate, and how Anita Sarkeesian has always stated that it’s linked video games to violence in male a gamer. If you haven’t cruise our site and read up on it, We’ll wait. Ok now that you’re back we have something very interesting to show you. The following is a video of Feminist playing and reacting to Grand Theft Auto 5. Yes you read that correctly, Feminists who aren’t Anita Sarkeesian have actually played Grand Theft Auto 5 and given their honest opinions of the game.
In the 3 min video, they can be seen, shooting people, visiting a strip club, and actually aligning themselves with the game in a way a true gamer would: By experiencing it themselves with no objective thought before hand. Honestly the main problem with Sarkeesian’s argument in her Tropes vs. Women series isn’t that women are objectified, or misrepresented, it’s that people have actually taken the time to play these games.
And a lot of said players were and still are female. If a Feminist, as clearly seen in the video can play the same game, be familiar with it, and walk away with an honestly fair and open mind to it, why can’t she? Because she needs the drama to fuel her “career.”
Let’s align with Sarkeesian’s line of though and look at the video again. Still think that Grand Theft Auto V is a sexist game that targets women? If you believe so you’d have to count how many women play it online, and are Feminist—which is impossible but not unlikely.
