Even though ID Software´s “Doom” was released back in December 1993. Peoples till play and love the game to this very day.
But who can blame them for doing so? Because just like you and i (old school Gamers) young Gamers (newcomers) will discover the epic world of Doom as well.
For me, Doom changed my thoughts (and views) on video games for all time when i played it around Christmas 1993. Wolfenstein was great, but Doom was everything and more.
So i had a lot of fun to hear (and see) John Romero play and talk about Doom with Double Fine Productions (in their “Devs play” series).
And to my big surprise, there was quite a lot of stuff that i didn’t know about Doom. So i hope that you will enjoy Romeros talk and gameplay video about Doom as well =)
“Here’s kind of a golden rule of level design: finish the first level last. Then you’ve learned everything about the game’s level design, and you’re going to put it all in the first level where you want people to get excited anyway,” – John Romero
