There are plenty of digital game distribution platforms today (GOG, Steam, Desura with many more). Even so, none of that seems to scare (or bother) the founders of Playvio all that much. As they aim to launch their own game distribution platform sometime this year. And the Playvio crew are quite confident about their service as well (and they should be), since they have stated the following:

“A new game distribution platform is coming that will change how games are played.”

“Playvio is a game distribution platform that will provide gamers with a limitless catalog of games and will provide developers with the capacity for long-term sustainable income.

At Playvio we believe the greatest fallacy in independent games is underpaid developers and how difficult it is for developers to establish a continual stream of revenue. This challenge causes dozens of indie game studios to close their doors every day. By allowing these studios to generate ongoing revenue from their games we allow them to focus on creating new and amazing experiences for us to enjoy.

Our platform will also provide gamers with an all-access pass to our catalog of games. No longer will be the days of trusting skewed reviews and demo videos – discover each game for yourself with a limitless catalog at your fingertips.”

I have to admit that I like the sound of this, but just like always. It´s easy to talk, but it´s another thing to actually execute what you have stated (promised). So I wish Playvio the best of luck with everything. And if you´re curious about Playvio, then you can sign up for the early access version of the service right away (if you want to).
