Captain James T. Kirk´s chat with #GamerGate
I knew that the actor Adam Baldwin has been a part of #GamerGate since day 1 (he has even been credited as the creator of the #GamerGate hashtag), but that´s old news and common knowledge by now. However, I had no idea (whatsoever) that William Shatner (Captain James T. Kirk in Star Trek) had a chat with #GamerGate last night (as seen in the pictures down below), but it´s true. So I had quite an interesting read while going through all the tweets between Shatner and #GamerGate. As the chat section allowed people (from all sides) to let off some steam, Shatner also gave his thoughts (and critics) on #GamerGate as a whole, and some of mr Shatner´s best points and critics are to be seen in these tweets:
Because let´s be honest. There is (and there have been) quite a few people (and groups) that have used #GamerGate to push their agenda and for their own personal gain (no names mentioned, you know who you are). I think this can be said about #redditrevolt as well, because there will ALWAYS be people who will try to seize power while chaos is going down in the background (that´s something that has been done repeatedly throughout our history as well), and that will continue to happened as long as there exists greed, evil and power-hungry people in this world.
So it´s our (the people´s) job to make sure that people like that get´s no power at all. Wether it´s #GamerGate, #redditrevolt, politics or whatever.
Randi Harper presents “Dawn of the hypocrite”
Now it´s time for the grand finale, because while I was reading all the tweets between #GamerGate and William Shatner. As I couldn´t help to notice that Randi Harper (aka freeBSDgirl) spread her wisdom in the shape of a tweet. So what did Harper say exactly? Well, she tweeted out this to William Shatner:
“Each site needs stop shying away from defining what consitutes as bullying and establish gudielines of enforcement” – Randi Harper
Fair enough, since there´s nothing wrong with that message. I just find it funny that it was Harper that composed that tweet, since she doesn´t follow her own advice when it comes to Internet bullying (she loves to dox and gets people fired from their jobs, for example). In short, Harper is a hypocrite. Nevertheless, things went rather smoothly during the Shatner and #GamerGate Twitter chat section, and I have to admit that it was an interesting and wisdom giving experience. So I would strongly recommend that you guys read through the Mr Shatner´s tweets as well.
