Other than the fact that it’s finally Friday again, I got some good news to share with those who love “Persona 5” (don’t forget to check out our “Persona 5” PS4 review!).
You see, Jeri Navarro (aka Mohmega) just informed us that he has just released his “Persona 5” cover album “The Velvet Records” via digital stores (you can get the album via Spotify, iTunes or Youtube):
“Hi, my name is Jeri, more well-known as Mohmega on YouTube, and I am a video game cover artist. I garnered a considerable amount of attention when Persona 5 was released, because that is when I started covering the tracks from the game.
Today, I’m happy to announce that I have released my first ever full length album, an 11 track cover album from the songs in Persona 5, titled, The Velvet Records.” – Jeri Navarro (aka Mohmega)
Awesome indeed, and here’s what Jeri told me about the Velvet Records album:
“The Velvet Records consists of 11 cover tracks from Atlus’ 2017 Persona 5, presenting them in a variety of genres, ranging from jazz fusion to hard rock, and even to funk.
Crafted by VGM musician Mohmega, The Velvet Records relives the best moments of the JRPG by utilizing rhodes and several stylistic guitar choices, very reminiscent of the soundtrack composed by Shoji Meguro himself.
“The Velvet Records introduces a collection of well-known and lesser-known tracks from the Persona 5 soundtrack, all the while providing fresh but familiar arrangements,” Jeri AKA Mohmega states. “Crafting this album has challenged my skills as a musician and producer, and has also taught me not only how to form polished songs, but also how to make songs work hand-in-hand, and to create a fluid collection of tracks.”
The Velvet Records tracklist:
Wake Up, Get Up, Get Out There (ft. Psamathes)
Tokyo Emergency
Beneath the Mask
Layer Cake
Sunset Bridge
King, Queen, Slave
Willpower
Price
Life Goes On
Whims of Fate (ft. Line)
New Beginning”
Simply put, if you’re a “Persona 5” fan (or just a fan of the series in general for that matter), then you can download and listen to the Velvet Records album right now =)
