I’m more than aware that there are plenty of different puzzle, visual novel and platform games on the market right now (old as new game titles).
Nevertheless, I still can’t say that I’ve seen all that many games that are a combination of puzzle, platform, and visual novel elements.
“Evan’s Remains” looks and feels like a mix of “Super Mario Bros”, “Cave Story”, “Super Metroid” and “To the Moon”.
Well, that just happens to be the case with Whitethorn Digital’s (Whitethorn is an indie game development studio from Argentine) upcoming indie puzzle/platformer/visual novel “Evan’s Remains“.
In “Evan’s Remains” players get to follow follows the journey of Dysis in her attempt to find Evan )a genius who has suddenly gone missing).
Nice indeed, but what is “Evan’s Remains” all about then? Well, here’s a short description of the game and its story:
“Evan’s Remains is a mystery adventure that merges puzzle-platforming with visual novel elements. It follows the journey of Dysis in her attempt to find Evan, a genius who has suddenly gone missing. ”
“Evan’s Remains combines logic-based platforming with narrative-driven visual novel elements. The game features gorgeous pixel-graphics, and puzzles that must be solved using logic, rather than dexterity or skill. Throughout the game, players will slowly uncover the story of the disappearance of the missing boy: Evan, and the nature of Dysis’ quest to find him.”
“Evan’s Remains” is currently in development for Windows PC (Windows, MAC and Linux), PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, and the game is said to launch in late May next year (2020).
So far, so good Right? Sure, but there is a catch to all of this. You see, “Evan’s Remains” needs to collect 10,000 USD via Kickstarter in-order for the game to become a reality.
I really like the visuals and art style of “Evan’s Remains”, because I find the game’s graphics to be cute, charming and beautiful.
On a positive note though, “Evan’s Remains” is already over 60% funded, and there are still 17 days left on the game’s Kickstarter campaign. In other words, it’s very likely that “Evan’s Remains” is going to be fully funded on time.
So I wish Whitethorn Digital the best of luck with their Kickstarter campaign =) Other than that, I would also like to mention that there is a free “Evan’s Remains” demo that you could download and play right now if you feel like it.
And with that said, what’s your take on “Evan’s Remains” so far?
