This was just a matter of time really. Because i knew that Amazon (they bought Twitch for $970 million) would roll out new policy rules for Twitch TV sooner or later. And just as i suspected, there would be a “no more half naked streams” rule/policy on Twitch. And as we all know, there´s quite a few people that have used half nude content to get more views on their streams (especially females, on Youtube they are known as “boobie channels“).

twitch live stream

Twitch is not a fan of half-naked streamers.

But that “trend” is now a thing of the past on Twitch TV, and good thing that. Because if you have to be half nude to get more views on Twitch, then you´re on the wrong site imo. Because it should be ALL about the games and the people who play them (the personalites), and the entertainment value that follows.

So i´m totally fine with the new Twitch rule that Amazon has applied. Speaking of which, here´s a part of Twitch rules of conduct (the one that concerns nudity in Streams):

“Nerds are sexy, and you’re all magnificent, beautiful creatures, but let’s try and keep this about the games, shall we?”

“Wearing no clothing or sexually suggestive clothing—including lingerie, swimsuits, pasties, and undergarments—is prohibited, as well as any full nude torsos, which applies to both male and female broadcasters. You may have a great six-pack, but that’s better shared on the beach during a 2-on-2 volleyball game blasting ‘Playing with the Boys.'”

you need to reread that policy change, nothing will actually change

    • Reread what? It´s right there in the Twitch policy. Besides, people (the users) of Twitch claim that people are starting to clean up their act on their streams.

      ***Dress…appropriately***

Nerds are sexy, and you’re all magnificent, beautiful creatures, but let’s try and keep this about the games, shall we?

Wearing no clothing or sexually suggestive clothing – including lingerie, swimsuits, pasties, and undergarments – ***will most likely get you reported by the community***, as well as any full nude torsos*, which applies to both male and female broadcasters. You may have a great six-pack, but that’s better shared on the beach during a 2-on-2 volleyball game blasting “Playing with the Boys.”

      * If it’s unbearably hot where you are, and you happen to have your shirt off (gents) or a bikini top (ladies), then just crop the webcam to your face. If your lighting is hot, get fluorescent bulbs to reduce the heat. Xbox One Kinect doesn’t zoom? Move it closer to you, or turn it off. There is always a workaround.

We sell t-shirts, and those are always acceptable. #Kappa

That’s almost word for word exactly what it said before, and nothing was done. Those girls (and the men that do it too) make Twitch WAAAAAAY too much money to stop them from wearing what they want. As long as it isn’t underwear or fully nude, sorry, it ain’t gonna change. KneeColeSlaw and those like her, aren’t going anywhere.

        • Really? You don´t happen to know when it was said the first time? I mean, is it years ago? So basically, it´s a rule that very “flexible”? (to a certain extent.

Well, yeah. Money talks. Ah, yes. KneeColeSlaw…Well, i don´t know if it´s true or not. But i heard that a lot of “cam girls” (the XXX kind), makes more money on Twitch, then they do on their “normal” cam jobs.

But i get your point. Funny, Twitch make a super serious policy about half-nude streaming. Then their going to allow it (the big names) anyhow. Eat the cake, and still have cake to keep, no?

Here’s the thing, I’m not even trying to call these girls (or guys) out on what they wear. IMO, they should be able to wear basically anything the want. It’s their body, their channel. If people don’t like it, they won’t watch it. But guess what? People DO like it, but they also like to complain. As long as it isn’t streaming in your underwear or in the nude, it shouldn’t be an issue. What Twitch could do is make them put the “confirm you are 18 or older” button on those channels. Then if someone complains about what their underage kid saw, the issue can be dealt with as the user obviously was warned ahead of time.

At this point it’s not just people watching other people play games. The streamers are watched as much for personality and appearance as they are for skill at the game they are playing. It should be treated like television.

          • That´s a really good point (thanks for taking your time to comment btw!). And that would sort out that problem for sure, by having a “confirm you are 18 or older” button i mean.

And i agree that Twitch should be treated like television as well. Because it´s like a TV-network really, full of different channels.
