Before i even start talking about the PS4 slim. I´m going to be very clear about one thing.
None of the so-called “leaked” PS4 slim (code name “Monolith“) pictures (Multiplayer.it made the original post on that topic) has been proved to be “legit” (real) pictures of the PS4 slim. Nor has Sony commented on any of this (false or true).
With that said, the leaked PS4 pictures has caused a huge buzz on the internet for the last 24 hours. People speculate, talk rumors and potential retail prices, release dates and so on.
But due to the fact that there is no official statements on the PS4 slim by Sony. There are no nailed down specs, prices, release dates or measurements for the PS4 slim.
However, there is some pretty good speculations on HOW big (small) the PS4 slim would be (based on the leaked pictures).
For example, Machinima thinks that the PS4 slim is between 30-40% smaller than the original PS4 console. And that the measurements for the PS4 slim would be the following:
18.54cm wide
17.78cm long
There´s even talks about touchscreen buttons for the PS4 slim, and a rearranged design (a reposition of the buttons and Blu-Ray drive). So this makes me wonder if Sony will showcase the PS4 slim during this years E3 event?
It doesn´t sound to unlikely. Because all of the previous Playstation consoles had a slim version made. In fact, these are the actual launch details for the previous Playstation slim models:
– PS1 slim (2000) was released 6 years after PS1
– PS2 slim (2004) was released 4 years after PS2
– PS3 slim (2009) was released 3 years after PS3
And as we all know, it´s been almost a year since PS4 launched in Japan (22 feb 2014). So Sony might actually release a PS4 slim model sometime this year. But as i stated earlier, all of this is just speculations and wild guesses.
So these are some of the questions that remains unanswered about the PS4 slim for now:
– Release Date
– Launch price
– New design
– The REAL measurements
– Will Sony showcase the PS4 slim at E3 this year?
