***Update – 2015-06-14 – 10:05 CEST***
I feel somewhat ashamed that I just now found out that the 16-bit 2D next-gen indie RPG “Elysian shadows” got fully funded on Kickstarter back In August last year. Oh well, better late than never. Anyhow, “Elysian shadows” managed to collect over 185,000 dollars In total last year, so the game Is set for a December release this year to Windows, MAC, Linux, Ouya, Dreamcast, Android and iOS.
In fact, you can actually pre-order “Elysian shadows” via the games homepage (starting at $15). So If you like games such as “Secret of Mana”, “Chrono Trigger”, “Final Fantasy” and “Zelda”. Then don´t miss out on “Elysian shadows”!
There´s a ton of different 2D indie RPG games on the market right now. And even if I “just” count all the 2D RPG games on Kickstarter and Indiegogo (and not the market as a whole), there´s still a whole lot of them.
So it sure takes a lot to stand out from the crowd. But the Elysian Shadows Team made it big time on Kickstarter (they collected over $185,000 in total!) last summer, with their own next-gen 2D RPG game “Elysian shadows” (for Windows, MAC, Linux, iOS, Android, Dreamcast and OUYA).
And it didn´t take me long to understand WHY “Elysian shadows” became such a huge success on Kickstarter either. One of the many reasons would be the awesome graphics, the ability to swap between 2D and 3D perspectives.
And the fact that the game is heavily inspired by epic RPG titles such as “Secret of Mana“, “Chrono Trigger” and “Final Fantasy”. So i bet that there´s quite a few RPG fans out there, that can´t wait for “Elysian shadows” to be released.
Well, guess what? The game will be released sometime this winter!
About Elysian shadows:
Elysian Shadows is an indie 2D RPG being developed for Windows, OS X, Linux, Android, iOS, Ouya and Sega Dreamcast. We fuse aspects of 16-bit classical RPGs such as Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, and Final Fantasy.
With a highly stylized, modern vision by using dynamic lighting, physics, and audio engines along with swapping between 2D and 3D perspectives. Our goal is to create a “next-gen” 2D RPG in terms of gameplay, graphics, and audio while still remaining true to the games that inspired us to become developers.
