Press release:
75% of goal reached with 4 days remaining like many indie games of late struggling in the post-bubble Kickstarter world, Orphan’s fate will likely come down to the final day of its campaign, refusing to reveal an answer until the final hours.
Orphan is a 2D platformer set around a small Appalachian boy surviving a global alien invasion. Visually, the game is a mix of silhouette graphics and Appalachian photography. Orphan will play like a blend of Another World and Journey to Silius.
The game is currently being developed by a one-man indie studio in rural Tennessee, with most of the game taking place in the developer’s homeplace in southeast Kentucky. The rural environment of coal mines, trains and crumbling industry is in contrast to the high-tech alien technology introduced by the invasion.
Orphan’s Kickstarter ends Monday and looks to raise another $8,000 before the deadline hits. If all goes well, another $4,000 will secure a release on Playstation 4.
