You know, even though I love Christmas and Easter a whole lot. I still have to admit that I love Halloween the most, and why is that so you might wonder? It’s Because I’ve been a huge fan of horror games, movies and books for as long as I can remember. So I (and many others) have always felt like Halloween and horror goes hand in hand, and speaking of Halloween and horror.
We were just informed by Wither Studios that they have launched a Kickstarter campaign for their upcoming 2.5D story-driven psychological horror game “IMMURE” (the game is currently in development for Windows, MAC and Linux):
“Hello, thanks for taking the time to read our email. I wanted to reach out to TGG to raise your awareness of our psychological-horror game, IMMURE. It’s a 1 hour+ demo, and totally free. The response so far has been fantastic, and we were even recently featured on Itch.io.
We’re trying a different approach here for our upcoming Kickstarter campaign (launching October 15th) since there has unfortunately been a lot of bad press with gaming Kickstarters (projects falling through, not fulfilling promises, etc.). We want to show the world first what it is we plan to make. We’d be happy for you to play our game, and if you would wish to write about it that would obviously be very helpful for us! “ – Wither Studios
“IMMURE” made me think about a mix of “The Shining”, “Alone in the dark”, “Broken Sword” and “Call of cthulhu”.
Nice indeed, but what exactly is “IMMURE” all about then? (the title name of the game doesn’t exactly tell you all that much). Well, here’s a short description of “IMMURE” by Wither Studios:
“IMMURE is a 2.5D story-driven, psychological horror game. Will, the main character, has found himself trapped inside a foreboding Mansion with no exit. To escape, Will must travel through strange doors which lead into other dimensions filled with tormented souls. Will must choose to save or destroy these wraiths, in order to discover the truth behind the Mansion.”
I really like the looks and art style of “IMMURE”, because the game’s graphics is a mix of 2D and 3D graphics with real-time lighting/shadows.
As for the story of “IMMURE”, here’s what’s known on the story front so far:
“Will, the protagonist, has found himself trapped inside a foreboding Mansion with no exit. To escape, he must travel through strange doors which lead into other dimensions, filled with
tormented souls. Will must choose to save or destroy these wraiths, in order to discover the truth behind the Mansion along with his own fate.”
“IMMURE” is said to offer multiple different endings. In other words, the replayability value should be rather high in the full version of the game.
As for features, here are some of the main features of “IMMURE”:
– Story-driven experience which explores many themes throughout
– Several chapters all with their own unique mystery, environment, and cast of unusual
characters
– Unique art style with a blending of 2D and 3D with real-time lighting/shadows
– Multiple endings and ways to progress through different parts within the game
– AI that make use of light and sound to hunt the player throughout the environment
– Clues/Journal System which will aide the player in solving mysteries
– Inventory Management System inspired by classic survival horror games
– The Shining Trapezohedron
This is what the inventory looks like in “IMMURE” (by the looks of it, the inventory is pretty basic, simple and flexible).
Other than that, Wither Studios also had us know that they have released a demo for “IMMURE”. So if you like the Kickstarter and demo trailer of the game, then I would recommend you to give the “IMMURE” demo a try for yourself (you can download and play the demo on a Windows, MAC or Linux PC). I would also like to point out that the full version of “IMMURE” is said to launch in December of 2020 for PC.
So I truly hope that Wither Studios will be able to reach their 75,000 USD Kickstarter goal on time (so far “IMMURE” has managed to collect 4,100 USD with 23 days left to go on the Kickstarter watch), because I like what I’ve seen and heard from “IMMURE” so far =)
And with that said, what’s your take on “IMMURE”? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
