I know that there exist quite a few adventure games out there on the market (old as new). Even so, I still can’t get enough of horror, thriller or dark themed adventure games. That’s also why I got quite surprised that I haven’t heard of Portable Moose’s (it’s a one man indie games studio, Steve Gabry is the man behind it all) episodic 2D side-scrolling adventure game “Sally Face” before (“Sally Face” is what happens when you mix 90’s Nicktoons, murder mysteries with paranormal activities). Then again, I don’t recall ever seeing any ads, reviews or such for the game (which is rather strange, since the first episode launched back in 2016).
Anyways, Steve Gabry (Portable Moose) had us know that he has launched the third episode for “Sally Face”:
“Experience the strange game that YouTubers have fallen in love with! Episode Three: The Bologna Incident is out today, February 10th!” – Steve Gabry
That’s great news for fans of adventure games with no doubt, but what exactly is “Sally Face” all about then? Well, here’s a short description of the game’s story and gameplay aspects:
“A Dark Mystery is Unfolding…Delve into an unsettling adventure following the boy with a prosthetic face and a tragic past. In the first episode, Strange Neighbors, Sally Face and his father move into an apartment filled with odd tenants and an unfortunate crime scene. Little did they know what misfortune still awaits… Unravel the sinister mysteries of Sally’s story to find the truth that lies hidden beneath the shadows.”
“Players will interact with Sal’s world, the people he meets and even explore his nightmares. The main path typically requires casual effort, with mostly straightforward puzzles. However, there are hidden layers to be uncovered that will invoke a bit of head-scratching, for those players up to the challenge. These include bonus mini games as well as additional narrative.
The game is broken up into shot Episodes. As a one man team, keeping the episodes shorter helps to keep development and gameplay more focused. There are a total of five episodes planned for the final version of Sally Face. Players can choose between Keyboard or Controller (Xbox 360) options for preferred control method.”
As for features, here are some of the features for “Sally Face”:
– Handcrafted by solo dev, Steve Gabry: including art, design and music!
– Inspired by 1990’s Nicktoons!
– Intriguing narrative will linger in your thoughts!
– Speak with the dead, using handheld video game system, the Gear Boy!
– Bizarre characters, ponies, headbanging and more!
So if you like the sound of that, then you might want to give “Sally Face” a try =) (episode 1, 2 and 3 is out right now for Windows and MAC, and episode 4 and five is in the making).
