I don’t know if you guys and girls like puzzle games, but in my case, I have loved them ever since I played “Bomberman” on the original Gameboy back in the early 90s (“Bomberman” is with no doubt one of the most addictive and fun games that I have ever played). So as you might imagine, I got quite happy when I found out that SmileAxe has launched a Kickstarter campaign for their 3D light prism action puzzle game “PhotonCube“.
You see, “PhotonCube” (Photon³) is already out in Japan for PS Vita and the Nintendo Switch console. However, at this time there is now Western release of “PhotonCube”. So that’s something that SmileAxe intends to change with their “PhotonCube” Kickstarter campaign:
“Help us bring PHOTON³ (Photon Cube) to the world! Currently released in Japan on Nintendo Switch and PSVITA in Japan, “PHOTON³ (Photon Cube)” is a puzzle game with a unique “light manipulation” system, that has a high degree of difficulty to challenge the most advanced puzzle gamers. In addition, the cute characters and user–friendly interface also attract and entertain users of all ages, who are not familiar or just starting out with puzzle games.
In order to respond to the growing demand for an overseas release from fans, with your support through Kickstarter, we plan to cover the costs for localization and release the game by March 2018! Furthermore, after localizing it, we plan to make this available on Steam as well.” – SmileAxe
As good as that may sound though, there is a tiny catch to all of this, and that would be the fact that SmileAxe needs to raise about 12,300 USD via Kickstarter in-order to make a Western release of “PhotonCube” possible. Even so, it’s worth pointing out that SmileAxe is off to a good start since they have already managed to collect about 1,100 USD for the said cause. Furthermore, there is still 23 days left on the Kickstarter watch. In other words, that should hopefully be enough time for SmileAxe to reach their Kickstarter goal on time.
So on a personal level I truly hope that “PhotonCube” will get a Western release to PS Vita and the Nintendo Switch (there “might” even be a PC-release sometime this year as well), because from my point of view, the game made me think about a mix of “Bomberman” and “Mega Man Battle Network“. Well, that’s at least the vibes that I got from the Kickstarter trailer. Anyways, if you like the sound of this, then show “PhotonCube” some much-needed love on Kickstarter!
