I can’t be the only one who has noticed that visual novels have just grown more and more popular over the years, because nowadays I see a new visual novel game project pretty much every month (if not more). So it sure came as no surprise to me that it would just be a matter of time before I would find out about the next visual novel project.
Well, I was right, because just now Kalong Studio informed us that they have launched a Kickstarter campaign for their visual novel “La Mémoire”. So what exactly is this particular visual novel all about then? For starter, it’s a sci-fi/action romance visual novel (there also seem to be some lewd parts to it), and that’s something that I haven’t seen all that much of (at least not as of lately).
So, what about the plot of “La Mémoire” then? Well, here’s what’s known about the game’s story so far:
“The story takes place in the near future, where scientists and innovators have finally discovered how to make a near-perfect android to help humans with their daily necessities. At first, they were only produced to help people in their homes, but then slowly but surely they began to penetrate the industrial sector as workers. Soon, they were already replacing humans. Many were satisfied, but many were not. People began protesting against the use of androids in the industrial sector, resulting in the destruction of androids here and there by angry protesters.
This caused severe damage to the industrial stock market. For the first time in human history, human rights won over corrupt leaders, as there was nothing they could do to suppress the protests of the people. Today, androids are limited to performing housework or helping elderly people, focusing only on serving humans. Even though laws were passed prohibiting the use of androids beyond certain situations, there are still many people who attempt to use broken androids for activities like manufacturing weapons, dealing in the black market, and other illegal activities. Thus, the world isn’t at peace as everyone dreamed about.” – Kalong Studio
As for features, here are some of the said launch features for “La Mémoire”:
– Multiple routes and endings
– Beautiful artwork
– More than 20 original CGS
– A great soundtrack
– 8-10 hours of playtime
– Windows, MAC and Linux support
Sure, I don’t know about you, but “La Mémoire” sounds pretty darn cool if you ask me. Furthermore, the Kickstarter trailer made me want to see more from the game =) However, as good as all of that might sound. There is still one little catch to it all, and that would be the fact that “La Mémoire” needs to collect 770,000 Yen on Kickstarter in-order to become a reality. So far so good though, since Kalong Studio has already managed to raise over 111,000 Yen, but there’s still over 589,000 Yen missing.
Even so, I still think that Kalong will be able to reach their Kickstarter goal on time, as they got about 20 days left on their Kickstarter campaign. That’s also why I wish Kalong Studio the best of luck with everything.
And with that said, what’s your take on “La Mémoire”? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
