Way back in December 2014, I wrote an article about Outer Heaven´s super ambitious fan-made Metal Gear remake project (the mod were based on “Alien Swarm”). Well, sadly enough that project died out with time. So I really hope that “Shadow Moses” won´t face the same faith. Because it would be a real shame if the project ended up dead. I mean, just the thought of a MGS1 Unreal Engine 4 remake me drool all over my keyboard. However, before you bring out your most expensive champagne bottle. I would suggest you to read the following from the Shadow Moses team first:
“Shadow Moses is a Recreation of the Metal Gear Solid game from 1998 using Unreal Engine 4.
We just need to clarify something:
Konami owns the MGS copyright and therefore sooner or later we will need their full permission.
We have therefore chosen to openly share this project from the beginning so that we can deal with any issues that may arise as they come.
We believe this is better than putting years of work into a project only to get it shut down. Please, respect this decision. Thanks for your attention.” Airam, The Shadow Moses Remake project
In other words, the faith of the Shadow Moses project lays in the hands of Konami (more or less). Well, not to ruin the party mood or anything, but Konami hasn´t exactly made a lot of great decisions as of lately (they are all washed up, in my opinion). So this is a 50/50 kind of gamble really. Because at the end of the day, it´s still Konami that has the power to let The Shadow Moses project live or die. Nevertheless, I wish the Shadow Moses team the best of luck and fortune.
