As I’m a Cyberpunk fan since birth (pretty much), I’m really happy that the Cyberpunk genre has grown strong over the past years, and it´s mainly thanks to games such as Shadowrun Returns and Deus Ex: Human Revolution. As those games made the Cyberpunk genre popular among Gamers again, and that is something which the indie developer community has taken notice of (thus games such as Dex, Invisible, Inc etc.) And that´s probably why there are quite a few Cyberpunk indie games in the making right now. Just take SyncBuildRun´s Cyberpunk adventure/puzzle/stealth game V.Next (the game will offer multiple chapters, with a story that advances every week) for example.
So what is V.Next all about then? Well, the game takes place in a dark futuristic Seattle in 2035, and you play as the female hacker named Vivienne Denue. A hacker who has just been set free from her imprisonment, and she (Vivienne Denue) wants revenge on the corrupt corporations that put her in that imprisonment.
Not only that, Denue also wants to fight for the underclass of Seattle (the poor, homeless and the sick, etc.). So as you might imagine, Denue (meaning you) got quite a lot of missions (and side quests) ahead of her. Well, this sure sounds like a rather interesting and cool concept for a game I must say, and that´s probably why V.Next got greenlit on Steam Greenlight just recently.
In fact, there´s even a Kickstarter campaign for V.Next that´s up-and-running right now (the goal would be to collect $120,000). So i´m going to follow V.Next with great interest on Kickstarter from now on, as for the game itself. V.Next looks (and feels) like a mix of old school Shadowrun, Bloodnet and Blade runner. So if you like the thought (sound) of that, then you should most definitely support V.Next on Kickstarter!
