“Brandish” (it´s a top-down dungeon crawler/action RPG) , that´s a name that i haven´t heard for almost 20 years now. And to be honest, i had almost forgotten all about Nihon Falcom´s “Brandish” series. But who can blame me for thatreally? As it´s been years since the series made any noise at all.
And that even though the fact that there´s six “Brandish” (including the PSV remake “Brandish: The Dark Revenant”) titles in total so far. However, the Snes port of the original game was the only English ported version of “Brandish” at the time (1995).
So no wonder that i haven´t heard from the series in almost two decades. But the silence was broken last night (at least for me). As i was informed that the PSVita remake had been released in North America (it was released for the PSV and via PSN back in January this year).
And it´s called “Brandish: The Dark Revenant”. And that game just happens to be THE best “Brandish” title to date. And the reviews (and fan base) don´t lie either. The Dark Revenant has an average score of 79.14% via gamerankings.com).
That´s great of course. But i should point one thing out. Just like in the case with “Dragon’s Crown”, “Brandish” also shows a lot of naked skin. And that have caused some rants shortly after the release of “Brandish: The Dark Revenant” (just the concept pictures and cover art alone would set the whole SJW movement on fire for sure).
But even so, that still doesn’t take away the fact that “The Dark Revenant” is a really good dungeon crawler/action RPG for PsVita. So if you´re into kind of games (and own a PSV console), then you should checkout “The Dark Revenant” for sure!
