The monsters are back in town
Do you like the thought of dinosaurs (or lizzards), wolf’s and gorillas that ate their steroid porridge when they were little? You know, so that they could grow big enough to tear a whole city apart? Good! Then you´re probably going to enjoy this article for sure. Hold on, I know what your thinking right now “His going to write about some old Japanese movie franchise from the 1980s”. Well, you’re almost right, just change “movie” to “game” instead and your right on target. As the game in question would be the good old game classic Rampage, (the game became a huge hit when it was released in 1986).
So what is Rampage all about then? Well, basically, it’s about three poor gigantic monster sods, but please allow me to introduce them to you:
George (a King Kong-like gorilla)
Lizzie (a Godzilla-like dinosaur/lizard)
Ralph (a giant werewolf).
And all three of them seems to have undergone some kind of experimental total makeover (there’s a lot of mutations and radioactivity involved I bet), and you guessed it. The players got the chance to control these monsters, and that of course means total Rampage!
The Rock takes on the monsters from Rampage
Now that I’ve given you guys a brief presentation of the game, it´s time for me to introduce you for the highlight of this article. Yes, they (Beau Flynn, San Andreas) are in fact going to make a FREAKING movie out of Rampage! I mean, if you liked the Jurassic park, Godzilla and the King Kong movies (which offered a lot of mass destruction). Then just imagine what would happen if you took those movies and tossed in Rampage in a mixer and sprinkle it with some Dwayne Johnson, Well, you would get the film adaptation of Rampage of course! . Yes, THE Rock is going to be in this movie, which is a real treat.
As Dwayne Johnson just happens to be one of the best action stars there is to date. However, I have to admit that I enjoy The Rock´s performance more when he is teamed up with other awesome actors in movies (like “Pain and Gain” for example). So I’m a “bit” skeptical about him being a solo star in this movie (Rampage), because I’m reasoning like this, will Rampage be like a two-hour milkshake that taste good through the whole thing kind of experience? Or will it be like eating a big portion at taco bell where shove all your food in just 20 minutes, then spend almost two hours at the toilet praying like no tomorrow to make the pain stop kind of experience?
As there has been movies in the past where Dwayne starred as the solo main character, and those movies didn’t turn out all that well *cough* Hercules *cough*. Anyway, in this movie Dwayne is going to be the guy, who has to prevent these three abominations (George, Lizzie and Ralph) from turning their targeted cities (s) into smashed crumble cake. Nice! However, I’m wondering how in the nine hells will The Rock be able to take care of these giant monsters? So I really hope that it’s not going to be something ridiculous (or lame), like a vulnerable spot for each monster, for example.
that they have a weak spot like a video game boss.
Kick them in the nuts, Dwayne!
I know that the joke about “kick them in the nuts” might be a “little” off target, since Lizzie (the monster dinosaur/lizard) is supposed to be a female. Anyhow, this would be my point. In the 1998 version of Godzilla, New York called in the U.S. air force to do an overkill air strike on that overgrown lizard before it went down. So I can’t really imagine that happening in Rampage, since all three monsters are gathered in one place. Neither can I imagine having Dwayne dropping down like a mighty martyr pasted on a big-ass bomb while screaming, “can you smell what the rock is cooking? YOU BITCHES!”, and thus saving the day.
So, yeah, I’m a bit skeptical about Rampage. Nevertheless, I still hope that Rampage will turn out to be a really great action movie in the end. Speaking of which, the movie is set for a release next summer, and it´s being produced by Beau Flynn (which would be the same guy who worked as a producer for the movie San Andreas, and that movie made over 400 million dollars at the box office!).
So are you guys and girls excited to see Dwayne Johnson kick some monster butt in Rampage? And have you played any of the Rampage games before?
