Jay Garrick has been cast for the upcoming Flash Season 2. Teddy Sears has been graced with the mantle of the WWI helmeted hero, and we couldn’t be happier. Sears is known for his prominent role in Masters of Sex, and is expected to lend a very capable hand to Barry Allen during his time in Central City. Andrew Kreisberg was very excited to talk about Jay Garrick becoming a part of the S.T.A.R. Labs team.
“It’s so exciting, as we rush into season 2, that we finally get to bring the crimson comet to life. We couldn’t imagine anyone more suited to play the original Flash than Teddy.”
The show will also be adding Shantel VanSanten as Patty Spivot the expected love interest for Barry Allen, who is a police officer, and a science enthusiast. And of course for those who are dying to know—yes Wally West is confirmed to be in The Flash Season 2. With all this news what else could we possibly state that would top this? Oh Professor Zoom is the Big Bad of The Flash Season 2.
Now this will be the most interesting part of the upcoming season for these few reasons:
Tom Cavanaugh has renewed his contract for The Flash Season 2, but we haven’t been told in what perspective he’ll appear. If he is Professor Zoom in an alternate reality—he might not necessarily be Eobard Thawne anymore—especially because Eddie killed himself in The Flash Season 1 finale erasing his existence. Eddie was assumed dead, but as comic fans know he becomes Cobalt, one of The Flash’s fiercest enemies, and a renowned speedster in the comics. He was wearing a blue shirt, and Reverse Flash did talk about Cobalt being used on Rip Hunter (Booster Gold’s Son) Time machine to keep it stable.
Lastly, with alternate universes becoming a reality, and time travel as well—we could see Professor Zoom taking advantage of the Speed Force in worse ways than we’ve seen before. We know if we have 4 Speedster’s in the same universe the Speed Force has to be shared, and that could limit each user drastically. Think of it as using Wifi on 4 different systems and only having 24MB/s to use. A lot of lag, almost impossible to use. If The Flash Season 1 was an indicator, we’ll see the Speedsters moving in and out of the season, and not ganging up on Professor Zoom, as that would be boring for the purposes of filling the season with proper plot.
What we can expect, and what we’ll receive will and may still be far and in between, but for those who know Mark Guggenheim’s style, and Greg Berlanti’s—we’re in for one hell of a Flash Season 2 premiere and body.
