The Flash season 2 is gearing up to make its return to our screens this October, and there’s still more we can look forward to. For a long while now, fans have been clamoring over when we’ll see more Speedsters including Jay Garrick, Wally West, and Bart Allen. Well the wait is officially over, sort of. Wally West has been cast for The Flash season 2 with Keiynan Lonsdale (Insurgent). We’ll see Wally cast as a season regular, although it is unclear whether or not we’ll see his canon changed for the show or not. In the comics Wally West is the nephew of Iris West (Candice Patton), but DC and the CW could change the canon to reflect him as her son with Barry.
While Wally did originally inherit the mantle of The Flash after he graduated from Kid Flash, this could give the character a different background. It could also serve as a fresh perspective on an older story as well. It remains to be seen if Lonsdale’s character will crossover to the other DC shows—Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow—but it will make for an excellent debut and tenure. Lonsdale will return for his follow-up in the Insurgent series for Allegiant Part 1, and that’s something to wonder about. With DC adding as many shows as it can to its belt to stay current, can the demand for new heroes keep up with the supply? We know that the Teen Titan’s show is still under development, but how far will we be looking at it?
With Supergirl ready to fly into CBS very soon, and Gotham season 2 on its way fans might not be able to hold on. You can count on this as a fan though, DC and CW will never disappoint when it comes to crossover events—especially after seeing the second #Flarrow crossover and learning about Oliver Queen’s future.
