I don’t know about you guys and girls, but I really love the “Zelda” series and Metal music. So naturally I tend to get quite excited every time I hear that someone has made a Metal inspired song or album based on the music from the “Zelda” universe. That’s also why I decided to write about Master Sword’s upcoming “Shadow and Steel” album in the summer of 2016 (Master Sword is a “The Legend of Zelda” tribute band from Washington DC, USA).

the legend of zelda a link to the past

I’ve been a fan of the “Zelda” series since the very first game dropped on the NES console. Even so, I still like “A link to the past” the most, because I have so many awesome childhood memories from that title.

Anyways, long story short, there was a Kickstarter campaign for the “Shadow and Steel” album, and the campaign did become successfully funded on the 5th of September back in 2016 (the original Kickstarter goal was to raise 5,000 USD, but Master Sword managed to collect over 6,000 USD in total).

shadow and steel the new album from master sword

The “Shadow and Steel” album is what happens when you mix the music from “Zelda” with Metal.

That’s great news of course. However, I haven’t heard a word about the “Shadow and Steel” album since then. So I got quite happy when we received an e-mail from Corey Garst (Corey is the lead guitarist of Master Sword). You see, just the other day Corey informed us that Master Sword’s “Shadow and Steel” album launched just recently via bandcamp:

“Dear Robin Ek, Wanted to drop you a follow-up note on the article you published way back in 2016 regarding Master Sword’s Shadow and Steel crowdfunding campaign for Zelda-inspired heavy metal music. Thanks to people like you providing coverage, the crowdfunding was a success and we have now completed the project, and the album was released this month!

Furthermore, we were delighted to perform much of the album at this year’s MAGFest and are continuing to book shows into the future.Corey from Master Sword

“Shadow and Steel is Master Sword’s long awaited full-length album, featuring 10 songs inspired by Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda series. Hear your favorite game melodies played in a completely new way, with screaming guitars, pounding bass, expressive keyboards, innovative drumming and the siren vocals of Lily Hoy serenading you with the lost stories of Hyrule.”

master sword let me show you the night

Master Sword released a brand-new music video back in December last year (2017), and it’s called “Let me show you the night” (it’s a “Twilight Princess” inspired metal song).

In the matter of fact, the album launched less than three weeks ago (to be exact. The album was released on the 2nd of January). Well, I think you get the idea. So here’s the ten songs that’s included on the “Shadow and Steel” album (the album is all yours for as low as 10 USD via Bandcamp):

1. Behind the Mirror 03:35
2. Let Me Show You the Night 04:36
3. Tower of Stone 06:50
4. Kiss of the Flame 07:52
5. Sanctuary 05:09
6. Beneath the Skin 08:40
7. Isle of the Sky Spirits 05:28
8. Hyrule Field (cover) 04:12
9. Master of the Seas 08:53
10. My Destined One 03:34

And with that said, what’s your take on the “Shadow and Steel” album? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
