I “almost” choked on my tea just now. But i have to tell the story from the very start, or else it won’t make any sense at all for anyone of you.
So let´s begin shall we? This morning we received a mail from Google, the subject in question was “Google ads“.
Because apparently Google had found some “Inappropriate” content (or pictures) on our old homepage thegamingground.com. Google even pointed out WHICH page that had caught their eye.
Google did however, NOT point out which post made them see red (and flag it´s content). So i just used logics, common sense and their own Google ad-sense guidelines.
Which would be the following:
Google ads may not be placed on pages with erotic or adult content. This includes but is not limited to sites with images or videos that contain:
– Strategically covered nudity
– Thin or transparent clothing
– Indecent or provocative poses
– Close-ups of breasts, buttocks or crotch
And the post in question was a parody post about the “Christian side-hug” group (which i posted back in 2011). And the picture that got flagged by Google, was a side-boob picture (i made a joke about “Side hug Vs side boob”).
Sure, i admit. It was a “big” over the line. So, no sweat. I removed the picture, and that was it. But now comes the part about me choking on my tea.
Because shortly after that i removed that picture, i noticed something really strange while i was watching boogie2988´s video “Francis Remix”. For a brief moment, i thought that it was a uncensored Youtube picture (or something like that).
But no, it was a Google Ad´s banner that included an erotic picture of a nude woman. Hypocrisy anyone? Sure, it´s not Google´s ad-banner (it´s made by Ebay and Tradera Sweden), and the pictures are probably picked out at random as well.
But still, i found all of this to be rather ironic. Because if Google can find a post (and a picture) from 2011 (and flag it).
Then why can´t Google even find erotic/pornographic pictures within their own Ads system? It just doesn’t make any sense to me.
And this makes me wonder, have any of you guys experience anything like this before?
