***Update 1 – 2017-04-14 – 12:40 CEST***

It’s no secret to me that it’s a big no no to post #GamerGate or SJW-related content on N4G.com. As it would be the same thing as asking to be banned or suspended from the site, and having your post being taken down by the sites biased mods. This is nothing new when it comes to N4G. However, I never thought that they would pull down my OP about Polygon (big Gaming site), Twitch (one of THE biggest Streaming services in the world) and Pewdiepie (the number-one biggest Youtuber and Gaming personality in the world). Well, I was wrong. Because apparently, this post (the one that you got in-front of your eyes right now) isn’t “Gaming-related” at all….In the matter of fact, this is what some of the N4G mods told me the other day:

“What “journalist” and youtube (internet) personalities fight over isn’t gaming news.”cl1983

“This is not gaming-related.” – ziggurcat

“What “journalist” and youtube (internet) personalities fight over isn’t gaming news.” – Yet you have no problem with publishing Polygon’s articles about everything and nothing.

Funny enough though, N4G had no problem with our “Athene is getting sued by TwitchAlerts (aka Vulcun and StreamPro)” post (that one was published back in March, 2016):

In other words, it’s a real gamble each time you post anything on N4G…Because it doesn’t even matter if the N4G community approves of the post, because the mods could still kill it off due to personal opinions. I have also noticed that it appears as if N4G is protecting Polygon from posts that call them out on their bad behavior. I would also like to point out that there has been quite a few approved posts of Pewdiepie on N4G in the past (I have added some links further down the page). Nevertheless, that appears to have changed. So I take it that it’s not okay to add posts of this kind to N4G anymore…

————————————————-

I (Robin Ek, TGG) had a feeling that the Youtube situation would become much worse after the Pewdiepie Disney aftermath “incident” (I’m going to cover the Pewdiepie, Polygon and Switch part shortly). As it gave me a really, really bad vibe of what’s coming up next. Well, I wasn’t wrong, because if you didn’t know it. Youtube has become a big mess thanks to Wall Street Journal’s war on Pewdiepie, their hunt for racist jokes and racist content on Youtube (watch  H3H3’s video “Is Youtube over?” for more information on that matter). So now Youtube has lost hundreds of millions of dollars due to the WSJ Vs Pewdiepie aftermath, and a lot of Youtuber’s are losing their Youtube income in the process as well. Hell, people have even been forced into becoming “family friendly” in-order to earn any money at all on Youtube…And speaking of which. That’s exactly the problem that Pewdiepie pointed out in his “This video could save your life!” video (he uploaded that video on the 10th of April):

“No more swearing, no more sexual jokes and definitely no more Hitler jokes,”  “I wish I was joking, I’m not. It seems that YouTube has made some changes and about a third of my videos have become demonetized. I’m going to have [to be] family friendly from now on so I don’t go homeless”. – Pewdiepie

Well, I think you get the picture of the Youtube situation. So let’s proceed to the topic about Polygon, Pewdiepie and Twitch instead shall we? Right of the bat, this is what Polygon’s Julia Alexander wrote in a post about Pewdiepie just recently (the post was published on the 10th of April):

“Despite PewDiePie’s joking attitude toward the controversy, he has been repeatedly affected by YouTube’s decisions. Immediately following the controversy surrounding his anti-Semitic videos, he was dropped from Disney’s Maker Studios and, as he said himself, has lost a number of advertising partners because of his material. Whether or not he has more success on Twitch is yet to be seen.

Twitch also has its own set of ethics and rules that streamers must abide by. Any stream that “promotes, or encourages discrimination, harassment, or violence based on race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, or nationality” is considered hate speech and is strictly prohibited. PewDiePie’s videos don’t do this, but some of his previous videos contain Hitler jokes and the aforementioned anti-Semitic content, which could be seen as questionable by Twitch’s guidelines. Inappropriate behavior such as “nudity and conduct involving overtly sexual behavior and/or attire” or anything overtly sexual is also prohibited.

Polygon has reached out to Twitch for comment on PewDiePie’s content and will update when more information becomes available. Correction: Maker Studios is owned by Disney, not Google. The article has been updated to reflect these changes.”Julia Alexander, Polygon

Like I said, good luck with that one Polygon.

Sure, I can’t speak for everyone else now, but I get this feeling that Polygon isn’t a fan of Pewdiepie, and that they are enjoying Pewdiepie’s loss of money on Youtube (we can all thank WSJ for the Youtube mess…). Furthermore, now it seems like Polygon want Pewdiepie to face the same faith on Twitch as well. Because by the looks of it, Polygon appears to be going after Pewdiepie on Twitch in hope to get him banned from the site (the “anti-Semitic content”, “could be seen as questionable by Twitch’s guidelines” and “Polygon has reached out to Twitch for comment on PewDiePie’s content” part). Good luck with that one though, as Pewdiepie brings in big bucks for Twitch, and I bet that Twitch has paid close attention to what’s been going down at the Youtube camp as of lately as well. Simply put, they don’t want to lose a lot of money just because Polygon wants to get their five seconds of Wall Street Journal-like fame.

However, if Polygon would be able to pull off a WSJ on Twitch (against all odds), then we “might” get to see the same shit storm that took place on Youtube but on Twitch instead. Well, time will tell. I truly hope that won’t be the case though. As I believe that it’s already bad enough with the current situation over at Youtube (who knows, maybe Pewdiepie or Youtube will sue Wall Street Journal?). In other words, we don’t need to have another platform set on fire by people who would do anything for a nice headline and some clicks.

And with that said, what’s your take on this matter? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
