Before I drop my thoughts on this subject, I just want to point out that I’m an animal friend, and I have pretty much stopped to eat meat (I changed my mind about meat when I started to take care of animals myself). So, why am I bringing that up? It’s because PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has been pushing their “anti-meat” and “we are animal friends” agenda for years, and in their eyes, I’m most likely still not worth all that much. Why? Because I’m not as hardcore as they are when it comes to animal rights. Don’t get me wrong, I hate animal cruelty and suffering just as much as anyone else, but PETA has taken that hate to the next level more than one time in the past.

peta vs super meat boy

PETA has made some pretty crazy statements about games in the past, not to mention game parodies.

Well, for those who don’t know what I’m talking about. Please allow me to give you inform you about the matter. You see, PETA has been attacking games for years over the most stupid stuff that you could imagine, and I’m talking about everything from “Pokémon is basically animal cruelty“, “PETA Vs Assassin’s Creed 4” to their “Super Meat Boy” parody game (yes, I know, Super Meat Boy isn’t even an animal, but try telling that to PETA…). Even so, I have to admit that PETA might have out done themselves this time. So what has PETA done this time? Well, they appear to have been outraged by Nintendo’s cow milking game in “1-2 Switch”. As PETA claims that Nintendo has “taken all the cruelty out of milking.”:

“To simulate cow milking accurately, 1-2-Switch would need to show all aspects of dairy farming, including the violent insemination of cows on what the dairy industry itself refers to as a ‘rape rack.’ Cows produce milk to feed their babies, but their young are torn away from them soon after birth so that human beings can use their milk instead,”

“A mother cow will bellow for her calf for days after the baby is taken from her. Perhaps you could add these sounds to your game in order to remind players that by drinking milk, people support an industry that separates mothers from their babies.” – Ingrid Newkirk, the president of the animal rights group

Furthermore, PETA has also sent some truly crazy demands to Nintendo as well. As PETA wants Nintendo to add an authentic/realistic simulation aspect of cow milking into the “1-2 Switch” game, because apparently, PETA wants Nintendo to show their players everything there is to farming and cow milking (the “cruelty of milking” part). Well, you know, the last time I checked “1-2 Switch” is a video game. In other words, there is no actual cows (as in REAL cows) in the game. So therefore, there is no real harm done to cows. Then again, it’s PETA that we’re talking about here. Hell, even South Park has joked quite a few times about PETA in the past (*NSFW!*).

So on a personal level I can’t take anything that PETA says seriously. As they are quite well-known for being out of their bloody minds. Nevertheless, I hardly doubt that this will be the last time that we will see (or hear) a crazy statement (or demand) from the PETA camp. Because it’s in their nature to toss out one nonsense statement, claim or demand after another (their own history works against them on that one).

And with that said, what’s your take on this matter? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!

Ah PETA, they never change xD

Im not much of an activist when it comes to animal treatment. I tend to let bygons be bygons
If every solitary human on this Earth acted in favour of animal safety it probably wouldn’t decrease animal suffering world wide by 5%
In the animal kingdom, being slain by predators is just the daily norm.
Likewise many animals (and humans) in many parts of the world have little other than a carnivorous diet option available to them.
Its the simple, painful and sad truth of the world we live in

    • You know, the humans are the real problem. Because we are the ones whose destroying this world, and killing of animals to the left and right. So in all honesty, I like animals more than I like humans (no offense meant). True enough, but that doesn’t mean that we should kill everything and everyone off (just because we can). Yes, but it’s time to make a change for the better, and just like MJ once said:

“I’m starting with the man in the mirror
I’m asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
(If you wanna make the world a better place)
Take a look at yourself, and then make a change”

Sentiments all understood. That’s all fine (and never offense taken).
I’ll give a couple examples where my stance is coming from. Here in Australia, in recent years, if I’m correct on details (forgive my vague details) the government made a snap decision to stop exporting cattle to certain countries in light of animal cruelty. It instantly collapsed a couple farm businesses. So now there were farms with all cattle starving to death. The overseas butchers woulda just sourced their animals from elsewhere and slaughtered them.
Suppose every human on the planet goes vegan and stops all animal farming? All those animals will just be left to fend for themselves against wolves n foxes.
Saw a recent (and very common) story on a whale beached dead with plastic in its gut. Every bit of pollution, waste n trash you throw out is threatening all creatures great and small. You can argue that’s not an intentional or avoidable offense against animals, but they don’t know that. The suffering to them is exactly the same.
If humans disappear off Earth, what of all the would-be pets, protected in homes and loved?

I just look at it as how life on Earth is, the idea of creating a pleasant world for animals by any means to me feels rather like a fantasy

        • No problem man =) That I didn’t know though (I’m not from Australia). I understand that point, but I never stated that everyone should become a hardcore vegan. Furthermore, we are too many humans on this planet.

Yes, but if the human population goes down, then there won’t be any need for as many animals. It’s all cool man, because we’re doing a pretty good job killing ourselves and this planet off (WWIII is just about to kick-off big time). So I’m just living each day as it’s my last.

          • heavenshitman1

Yeah, think I agree. I shoulda played Fallout 4 more in preparation of WWIII I think.
When every living creature on Earth is deceased, no one can feel any pain anymore 😊

          • Well, just look at Syria…And Sweden got attacked just recently as well. So I’m staying at the countryside where I belong. You do that 😉

      • Because we are the ones whose destroying this world, and killing of animals to the left and right.

Agreed. And as the saying roughly goes:

        – Animals are blind cold-hearted murderers for the purpose of survival.

        – Humans can be selfish, lying, deceitful, treacherous, cheating and calculated murderers for their own gain.

Wasn’t it by any chance published on April 1st ;-)?

    • One would think that, but nope…
