Why does video game boobs and booty cause moral panic?
Many, many months ago I wrote about Marvelous Entertainment and Tamsoft´s upcoming games Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson (a action/side scrolling game for 3DS) and Estival Versus (a action/beat-em-up game for PS4 and PSV). Well, I have changed my mind about them (I have seen in-game footage from both games, so it´s not “just” eye candy O´ plenty). However, I hardly doubt that the SJW movement (nor radical feminists) will accept games such as Deep Crimson and Estival Versus. So I was quite surprised to hear that the games are coming to EU, America, Canada and Australia. Then again, maybe we shouldn´t celebrate our victory lap just yet.
I mean, I know that Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson is set for a release on the 27th of August in Europe, but things might change in some EU countries. For example, Dead or Alive: Dimensions (DS) got banned in Sweden back in May 2011 (duo to a child pornography law). And Team Ninja “might” have caved in because of complains from the SJW movement regarding Dead or Alive Xtreme 3. My point would be this, even “if” Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson (and Estival Versus) gets released as planed.
There “might” be a slim chance that both games might end up in the same situation as DOA: Dimension did (Or like when Target banned GTA 5 in Australia). In short, “some” countries and the stores might remove the games from their sites and store shelves on release (or later on). I really hope that won´t happen though, since there are a lot of Senran Kagura fans out there who’re dying to play Estival Versus and Deep Crimson (both games have already been released in Japan). We might not need to worry though, as It seems like Marvelous Entertainment (publishers of the Senran Kagura series) isn’t the kind that easily caves in:
What is your policy on censorship?
“In short, our intention is to release a version of SENRAN KAGURA 2: Deep Crimson that is identical to the version released by our friends over at XSEED (Marvelous USA).
We have also recently hired a community manager (shout out to @Drazzan) who will be ensuring that we are as transparent as possible, so if any changes are required we will update this page and our website with all relevant information.”
Will the game be available in shops?
“Currently, our plan is to sell these physical copies, and limited editions, exclusively via our websites. If there’s sufficient demand for them, we plan to offer a lot more physical and limited editions directly to customers in future.”
However, it remains to be seen if the international release of Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson and Estival Versus (don´t miss out on the Estival Versus trailer!) will go according to plan (no rants, no boycotts, etc.). So far, things are going really well for Marvelous Entertainment and Tamsoft though. As many of their pre-order editions of Estival Versus and Deep Crimson has already sold out completely. So if you have any thoughts on buying the “Happy Boobs’ Edition!” of Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson, then you better hurry up (since there is a super limited quantity of that edition). With that said, are you guys and girls ready for Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson and Estival Versus? And do you think that the SJWs will try to ruin the fun for everyone?
