Even though I´m not a huge fan of COD (I´ve played a lot of the old games, but not so much of the new ones), I couldn´t help to notice that the “COD: Infinite Warfare” reveal trailer now has over 2 million dislikes on Youtube (and keep in mind that the trailer got uploaded on May 2nd, so that´s less than two weeks ago). Especially since the comment section is full of negative comments aimed towards the trailer (and COD in general). So, what kind of comments are we talking about then? Well, comments such as these:
And all of this made me wonder what it is with the trailer (and “COD: Infinite Warfare” in general) that people hate so much? Personally, I really like space battles and sci-fi, but I guess that´s not everybody’s cup of tea. And that´s most likely why over two million people have pushed the dislike button on the “COD: Infinite Warfare” reveal trailer:
And it seems like people don´t like the fact that Infinity Ward are the ones whom’re going to develop “COD: Infinite Warfare” either:
And personally I don´t get that part, as some of the lowest rated COD games wasn´t even developed by Infinity Ward, but by Treyarch:
These are the average highest and lowest review scores for the COD series via gamerankings.com:
Higest rated COD games:
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (360, Infinity Ward/Activision, 2007) – 94%
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 2 (360, Infinity Ward/Activision, 2009) – 93%
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PS3, Infinity Ward/Activision, 2007) – 93%
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 2 (PS3, Infinity Ward/Activision, 2009) – 93%
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PC, Infinity Ward/Activision, 2007) – 92%
Call of Duty (PC, Infinity Ward/Activision, 2003) – 91%
Lowest rated COD games:
COD: Black OPS II – Uprising (360, Treyarch/Activision, 2013) – 79%
COD: Black OPS III (Xbox One, Treyarch/Activision, 2015) – 79%
COD 2: Big Red One (PS2, Treyarch/Activision, 2013) – 79%
COD 2 (Mobile, Mforma, 2006) – 80%
COD: Black OPS II – Revolution (PS3, Treyarch/Activision, 2013) – 80%
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 – Resurgence Pack (PS3, Infinity Ward/Activision, 2010) – 80%
And that fact raises a completely different question, why do people hate Infinity Ward so much? And just for the record, I´m not a fanboy of Infinity Ward (nor have I been paid to write this OP piece). I´m just curious, since these are all of Infinity Ward´s games:
Call of Duty
Call of Duty 2
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Call of Duty: Classic
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
Call of Duty: Ghosts
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
And if I´m not wrong now, “COD Ghosts” are Infinity Ward´s weakest COD title to date? (the PC-edition of the game has an avrage score of 62%) So I guess that´s why people are hating like crazy on “COD: Infinite Warfare” and Infinity Ward? Because they fear that “Infinite Warfare” is nothing more than a “COD Ghosts” goes Sci-fi? That´s at least the conclusion that I came up with from reading comments on Youtube and social media about “COD: Infinite Warfare”. Then again, I find it rather fascinating that people can hate so much based on a 3,24 minute long trailer for a video game. I mean, nothings final whatsoever. One should also keep in mind that “COD: Infinite Warfare” won´t be released until the 4th of November this year (for PC, PS4 and Xbox One). So the game could change for the better before release (especially if Infinity Ward pays close attention to all the negative feedback that people have given them).
However, like I stated earlier. I´m not a COD expert, nor a hardcore COD player. So my thoughts are merely based on what I´ve read, seen and heard uptil this point (in comparison to other FPS games on the market, and upcoming ones). That´s also why I would love to hear from some hardcore COD players what they think about COD: Infinite Warfare so far? And what needs to be done in-order to make the game great. (a whole lot I bet, since people hate the game so much).
With that said, feel free to share your thoughts on this matter in the comment section down below!
“Call of Duty®: Infinite Warfare returns to the roots of the franchise where large-scale war and cinematic, immersive military storytelling take center stage.
