The Turkey-based indie games developer Crawley Games today announced with great excitement and delight that their post-apocalyptic-themed horror roguelike/deck builder “Draft of Darkness“, is coming to PC via Steam Early Access on July 30th, 2021.
“Draft of Darkness” takes classic survival horror mechanics, merging it with the modern-day strategy of a deck-building Roguelike. Simply put, imagine Slay the Spire and Resident Evil had a gruesome baby!
Draft of Darkness is set in a post-apocalyptic city plagued by…darkness! Venturing through the procedurally generated and interconnected maps, you’ll need to manage your party and resource while surviving against ghastly infected creatures.
Your decisions outside of combat are just as important as your decisions in combat, especially if you wish to survive this darkness-infested city. Statuses stay with you throughout your run, only being removed by well-managed navigation. You’ll have the chance to upgrade your cards and equipment through in-world interactions and trading opportunities. Be warned, every action in Draft of Darkness has a reaction!
A card is only as good as its weapon – Attack cards are linked to a weapon, managing your weapons resources as well as your deck is vital to make sure your build is ready to defeat what lurks in the shadows.
Is the darkness better as a group? – Find friends and foes lurking deep within the darkness. Manage the status of your party, avoid radiation and infection at all costs!
Every death brings rewards – At the end of every run, you will receive credits that can be used to open booster packs to unlock new starting cards. Every death is a chance to find new strategies!
Be careful what you ask for – Draft of Darkness has a unique “meta-story progression” system, every decision can alter the outcome of the story and allow for new ways to progress. Different choices are available in each run but be careful, some will have serious consequences.
Draft of Darkness is releasing in Early Access on PC and Linux via Steam on the 30th of July. The game will be priced at $9.99/£7.19/€8.18, offering a 10% reduction until the 6th of August.
