The procedural adventure inspired by “The Thing” comes to PS4. After doing the rounds on PC, the title made by Cheerdealers arrives on Sony’s console.
Press release:
Madrid, Spain, November 9th, 2018: After messing with the perception of thousands of PC players, “Distrust” takes the leap to consoles with its premiere on PlayStation 4 (exclusively in digital format).
Distrust is an adventure that takes place in Antarctica and combines crafting and several elements from RPG and survival… as well as a number of features that bring its story close to the genre of terror. Clearly inspired by John Carpenter’s The Thing, Distrust will test your ability to survive in extreme conditions and your ability to distinguish reality and hallucination.
A helicopter crash left a group of explorers stranded near an Arctic base. As they try to find a way back, all they are doing is sinking deeper into a nightmare scenario. When they sleep, they attract a terrifying force that sucks the life out of their bodies, but the longer they battle exhaustion and stay awake, the less likely they are to survive…
As the survivors try to sleep just enough to stave off fatigue without dying, they slowly go mad and eventually reach the point where they can no longer trust their senses. In time, they can’t even tell the difference between reality and a hallucination.
Main features:
– Guide the survivors through a randomly generated Arctic base, overcome the severe climate and fight the unfathomable!
– Gameplay involving an extreme climate.
– Randomly generated levels.
– 15 characters with unique skills and abilities.
– Tons of quests, game events and plot twists.
– Altered perception of reality: you cannot trust what you see.
About Distrust
Inspired by John Carpenter’s classic movie ‘The Thing’, Distrust is a 3D survival game where players control two helicopter crash survivors stranded near an abandoned Arctic scientific base. Switching back and forth between the characters, players scavenge the base for food and supplies while also battling a terrifying force that attacks the characters as they sleep, sucking the life out of their bodies.
However, if players choose to avoid the force by staying awake, they risk getting exhausted and crippled by harmful character mutations. Once one character’s perception of reality has been altered the player must constantly switch between the two to determine what is real and what is not, all the while unraveling the mystery of what has happened to the base’s missing residents. Featuring a selection of 15 characters with unique skills and abilities, various mutations, quests and randomly generated maps, Distrust is available on Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/635200/Distrust/
