I’m going to start off this review with a short introduction, as not everyone might know what “Oppaidius” is all about.

Well,”Oppaidius Summer Trouble!” is an 18+ ecchi visual novel by Vittorio Giorgi (SbargiSoft). As for the game’s story and plot goes, “Oppaidius” follows the trials and tribulations of a shut-in, who’s almost solitary existence is interrupted by a (very) large breasted woman wanting to borrow milk.

oppaidius summer trouble serafina

Say hello to Serafina, the main character of “Oppaidius Summer Trouble!” 😉 And if you haven’t noticed it yet. She has some really big assets :3

As nice and naughty as that might sound, the only problem is she may or may not exist…And the protagonist starts to suffer weird dreams soon after her visit.

oppaidius summer trouble a boobage level

Yes, there is such a thing as a “boobage level” in the game, and I find that to be quite interesting.

With the release of the full version of  “Oppaidius” (currently at 1.1), what has changed in the meantime? Once the game has completed (of which there are quite a few endings), there is a New Game+ mode to be enjoyed.

Furthermore, there are also options to modify the track layout (although you only get three tracks to modify), and setting the boobage level.  Unfortunately, it only goes up to 100, and also doesn’t do what you think it should do…

As soon as the protagonist meets Serafina he starts having weird dreams.

So, what about the humorous side of the game then? Well, most of the comedy derives from Serafina’s ample assets, the protagonist’s reactions to them and his friends’ insistence that he may be imagining it all

Whilst “Oppaidius” seems comedic most of the time, there is always a spectre of something more serious hiding in the story, especially as the protagonist starts suffering from weird dreams and Serafina starts having problems of her own.

The protagonist’s friend and non-believer of Serafina.

The graphics of “Oppaidius” are reminiscent of early VGA PC games, although initially, I thought they were similar to ZX Spectrum graphics – except with more color.

However, the art style may not be to everyone’s taste.  So whilst Oppaidius art style is rather unique. It could be seen as taking retro-gaming too far back…

And why is that? Because the game’s backgrounds are rather gaudy, and that makes the game’s text hard to read at times (let’s just say that there are few color clashes to be found in the game).

Oppaidius offers a funny story, entertaining dialogs, colorful characters, and some really nice erotic content.

On a positive note though, some of the characters are nicely drawn for the most part. However, Serafina – breasts aside – does look weird at times. Nevertheless, once you’ve played “Oppaidius “a few times, you do get used to how she looks.

oppaidius summer trouble the swimming mini-game

Oppaidius’s swimming mini-game is a rather naughty and lewd one.

Other than that, “Oppaidius” features some mini-games as well. For example, the first one that you will come across is a swimming contest, where you have to mash two keys together in order to hopefully win. Fail, and the game ends, for… well, you’ll have to find out.

oppaidius summer trouble super poker boy

The Super Poker Boy mini-game is always available to the player throughout the whole game.

In addition to the swimming mini-game, there is also a poker-type of mini-game that you can play in “Oppaidius”.

As a matter of fact, the game is played on a Game Boy-like console called the “Super Pokerboy” (you get to play against various characters from the main game, including Yuki-chan).

It’s also worth pointing out that “Oppaidius” music is pretty good, and the same could also be said about the game’s sound effects (the sound effects brings a comical effect to the game, especially for when characters appear).

Since there are a handful of different endings to be found in the game, it’s well worth re-playing “Oppaidius Summer Trouble!” a couple of times in-order to see all the endings there is.

So, all in all, I have to say that “Oppaidius Summer Trouble!” certainly offers an interesting and funny story. I mean, sure. There are still a few dodgy English sentences in it, but it’s all certainly very readable and enjoyable.

If you like what you’ve read and seen in my review of “Oppaidius Summer Trouble!”, then you can download and try the free demo of the game for Windows or MAC.

Please keep this in mind though, there are still a few things still missing  in the game. For example, the ability to skip text (or rewind) for example.

However, they don’t detract from the game too much, and hopefully that’s something that will be added to “Oppaidius” at some point in the future.

So if you’re looking for a fun and well-written erotic visual novel, then “Oppaidius Summer Trouble!” is the game for you.

Pros:
+ Funny story and it’s quite sentimental at the end for standard endings
+ Mini-games are amusing
+ Be worth re-playing for the different endings
+ The game’s visuals and art style looks pretty darn good

Cons:
– Graphics are not to everyone’s taste
– Some of the English is slightly odd
– Some of the text colouring is hard to read on the background.  This is especially noticeable with selectable options.
– Some of the usual visual novel controls aren’t present (going back/rewind still isn’t available)

Gameplay: 3/5
Graphics: 3/5
Sound and music: 3/5
Controls: 3/5
Replay value: 3/5
Story: 4/5

tgg grade 4 out of 5

Verdict: 4/5
“Oppaidius Summer Trouble!” still offers a very funny and interesting story. So if you don’t mind salacious content, then this is a visual novel that would be well worth getting. Especially if you like very well-endowed women and a visual novel that offers you quite a challenge when it comes to unlocking all the game’s different endings.
