I think it’s safe to say that it’s something of a jungle out there when it comes to Gaming keyboards. I mean, there are so many of them on the market right.

That’s also why it’s easier said than done to figure out which keyboard that suits your needs the best. Well, hopefully I will be able to help some of you PC gamers out with this review of mine.

roccat horde aimo gaming keyboard the power of aimo

The Roccat Horde Aimo Gaming keyboard is 1.100 kg heavy, and it’s sized at 23 x 6 x 53 cm. So yes, the Horde Aimo quite a massive Gaming keyboard. I have no problem with that though, as I find the Horde Aimo to be a rock-solid gaming keyboard (the design, it’s tech, software and user friendliness).

Anyways, as I was saying. I’ve been using the Speedlink Parthica core gaming keyboard for quite sometime now. Long story short, the keyboard in question has become pretty worn out over time. So as you might imagine. I got really excited when I got a chance to try out Roccat’s Horde Aimo Gaming keyboard (the timing was perfect for me indeed).

Horde Aimo’s build is entirely plastic. Even so, I still think that the keyboard holds up a whole lot better than I thought (I play a lot of games online, and as you might know, that involves a lot of button smashing and rage moments).

Right off the bat, I have to admit that I thought that the Horde Aimo Gaming keyboard looked pretty huge (the box which the keyboard came with gave me that hint very early on). However, as it all turns out. That wouldn’t actually become such a big problem for me, as I soon found a liking to the design and size of the Horde Aimo (it may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but the keyboard fits like a glove for me).

roccat horde aimo gaming keyboard membranical keys and the tuning wheel

The strongest card that the Horde AIMO Gaming keyboard has is with no doubt its “membranical” switches, Windows dial and tuning wheel.

So for the last three weeks I have used the Horde Aimo Gaming keyboard for games like “Dota 2”, “Hunt: Showdown”, “CSGO”, “Overwatch”, “The Elder Scrolls Online”, “Fallout 4”, “Battlerite Royale” and “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt”. Well, it didn’t really matter what game I played, because the Horde Aimo worked like a charm with pretty much every single title that I tried out.

As for macro keys, the Horde Aimo keyboard has five macro keys that you can play around with as you please.

However, I did notice a couple of things while playing that annoyed me a bit (it might also become a bigger problem for some Gamers). For example, the surface of the Horde Aimo Gaming keyboard is NOT waterproof. So avoid having any drinks or whatnot near your keyboard (a word of advice is to get one of those drinking jars where you can use a straw to drink out of it without having to worry about spilling anything over your Horde Aimo keyboard).

roccat horde aimo gaming keyboard anti-ghosting roccat swarm

The Horde Aimo’s response time is great, and it’s all thanks to the Antighosting mechanic. Furthermore, It’s easy to adjust the keyboard to fit your needs (Roccat’s Swarm software is pretty easy to learn and use), and the keyboard also has something of a crumb proof layout.

Other than that, the matte-black finish surface of the keyboard buttons tends to leave finger prints. So I wouldn’t recommend that you eat candy or potato chips while using the keyboard, as the Horde AIMO will look like a mess if you do. Nevertheless, at the end of the day (despite the down sides that I’ve pointed out earlier) I still think that Horde Aimo is a pretty rock solid Gaming keyboard.

The AIMO lighting system and RGB illumination is pretty darn cool I have to say, and you can configure the Horde Aimo keys with different multicolors via Roccat’s Swarm software.

Why? Because you get a lot of value for your money, as the Horde AIMO is a really good all-around Gaming keyboard that will fit most of your Gaming needs. So if you’re currently looking for Gaming keyboard that gets the job done without eating up your wallet too much, then you should pick up Roccat’s Horde AIMO Gaming keyboard for sure.

Pros:
+ The Horde AIMO offers great response time thanks to its improved anti-ghosting mechanic. So that means that you can faceroll as much as you want (fastest keyboard in the west)

+ Adjusting the keyboard has never been easier than before (well, at least compared with my previous keyboards), as you can change pretty much anything that you want with the Swarm program, key assignment, character repeat and key Illumition. So if you want your keyboard to look like a rainbow, or if you want to have a rave party in your room? Then go right ahead!

+ As a messy eater as myself, this keyboard is perfect for me because it has a crumb proof layout. There isn’t a single open space anywhere where stuff like hair, skin or crumbs can fall down and hide. In other words, you just need to brush off the surface off every now and then.

+ I really dig the sound control wheel on the keyboard that you can conveniently use at anytime you change your audio (just spin that bad boy)

+ If you have bad space for the keyboard, like me, you can just remove the lower extended part of the keyboard to get more room

+ There are five different macro keys that you could use

+ For the horde!

Cons:
– The keyboard is not waterproof (make it happen, Roccat!)
– The design might not be everyone’s cup of tea
– The size of the keyboard could be a turn off for some people
– The matte-black finish surface of the keyboard buttons tends to leave finger prints

Technology: 4/5
Comfort: 4/5
Software: 5/5
Design: 4/5

tgg grade 4 out of 5

Verdict: 4/5
In overall, I’m really satisfied with the Horde Aimo keyboard. Especially since it’s a huge upgrade from the one I was using before (which was a Speedlink Parthica core gaming keyboard). Furthermore, I feel more connected to my keyboard than before.

Truth be told though, in general I tend not to like large keyboard. However, that’s not the case with the Horde Aimo keyboard. As I find it to have the perfect size while not using unnecessary open spaces for style purposes.

I would also like to point out that every key is just a blink of an eye away for quick access (and that’s how I want it to be), and with all the other extra goodies that Roccat has added to the keyboard (Antighosting, sound wheel, Roccat swarm, five different macro keys). The Horde Aimo is as close to perfection as it gets.
