“Sakura Apprentice” is an 18+ erotic fantasy visual novel, whereby you play as Riven (a knight), and the background story is as follows. Riven was raised on a farm to a lowly family, your one aim in life is to earn enough money to help keep your parents in their old age.
However, with the absence of proper education. Riven enlist in the army, and whilst being average at best, you do catch the eye of one particular world-famous soldier, a sexy female name Freyja!
As good as that might sound though, that’s when all your problems start...For whilst you think you are going to be tutored on all things military, Freyja has other ideas.
Anyways, as for the story of the game. Well, Sakura Apprentice’s story is non-interactive and linear. So there are no choices to be made.
Even so, the story itself is nice with the occasional humours touch, but as usual with Sakura novels, it goes mainly for drama, although of course, everything works out for everyone.
So, what about the game’s characters then? Well, Sakura Apprentice’s character traits are standard for these sort of visual novels. For example, Riven is an honest and rather naive protagonist, whilst Freyja is just a nymphomaniac and Alma is stoic.
On a positive note though, the game’s characters are very nicely drawn. The probably most outstanding part of the game though is with no doubt it’s numerous sex scenes, which are (as usual) shown as CG’s. They aren’t animated as such (which is a shame), but various things do change during these sorts of scenes.
And as with all Ren’Py games. All the standard controls are available with nicely designed buttons, and all the characters are nicely drawn and with basic animations.
Simply put, “Sakura Apprentice” is a good looking, fun and enjoyable 18+ erotic visual novel that falls short due to a handful of df ownsides (“Sakura Apprentice” would have been a 5/5 erotic visual novel if it hadn’t been for the said downsides).
Nevertheless, at the end of the day. “Sakura Apprentice” is still worth picking up if you’re into erotic fantasy visual novels since you could get the game at a rather low price.
In other words, if you’re into games like that (and like what you’ve seen in this review), then you might want to give “Sakura Apprentice” a try.
+ Very nice music
+ Graphics are great as usual
+ Story is good, if a little similar to past Sakura visual novels
+ Fairly cheap
+ Hot babes.
– No choices
– Somewhat unimaginative
– there isn’t really anything new
Sound and music: 4/5
Replay value: 3/5
“Sakura Apprentice” is an enjoyable +18 erotic fantasy visual novel at a pretty reasonable price. I mean, sure. It’s not going to set the world on fire with a pretty standard (and predictable) story, that doesn’t really do anything new.
However, the graphics (and CG) are of the usual good quality though, and the music makes it fun overall (although there is no real replayability). So, all in all, “Sakura Apprentice” is with no doubt worth looking into if you like well-made adult visual novels that don’t burn a hole in your wallet.
