The Darmstadt-based (Germany) indie games publisher rokaplay and indie games developer Cyberwave, are today very proud and happy to announce that their beautiful and cozy survival/crafting game “Solarpunk“, managed to become fully funded via Kickstarter on June 29th (2023)!

And it’s all thanks to the 6,312 backers who pledged a total of €305,266 (which is 10 times the game’s original goal of €30,000!) to Solarpunk’s Kickstarter campaign.

“Solarpunk” is a survival game set on a technically advanced world of floating islands, where you must use sustainable technology to craft a self-sufficient ecosystem. Alone or together with your friends in co-op, you’ll have to use sunlight, wind and water to create an energy system and automate your processes like gathering resources and watering your plants.

Customize your own airship and solar sail your way through the skies to explore distant islands. Construct buildings, grow food, and craft gadgets to create your ideal home in the sky.

“We’re beyond excited that Solarpunk earned roughly 10 times what we were hoping for,” said Patrick de Rijk, Co-Founder and Programmer at Cyberwave.

“Solarpunk has already acquired over a quarter million wishlists, which far exceeded our expectations. We knew we were making a great game, and it’s extremely validating to see that so many people are as excited about Solarpunk as we are!”

“Since the first time we laid eyes on Solarpunk we were in love,” said Adrian Kaiser, Head of Communication at rokaplay.

“We knew Cyberwave was really onto something here, but one can’t help but brace for the worst in this crowded market. So seeing how hyped people are for Solarpunk has really affirmed our gut reaction that it’s truly something special.”

Solarpunk is planned for a Steam Early Access launch in 2024 with PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch versions to follow.
