The UK-based indie games publisher PQube, Chile-based indie games developer Dual Effect and Digital Works, today announced with great thrill and joy that their the old-school-like survival horror game “Tormented Souls” is coming to the PS4 and Xbox One on February 25th, 2022, with the Nintendo Switch version releasing on April 14th (2022).

“Tormented Souls” is available to buy and play now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X and Steam.

When two twin girls go missing, it’s up to you – Caroline Walker – to find them. Your investigation leads you to Winterlake Hospital, an abandoned mansion turned into a hospital. Quickly, your investigation turns sideways and becomes a battle of survival against the horrible creatures that live in the dark. Will you make it out alive?

‘Tormented Souls’ is a return to the classic era of fixed perspective horror survival games – inspired by games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill. Craft survival tools and weapons using the limited resources around you to keep the horrors at bay. Solve puzzles and explore Winterlake, but be aware of your surroundings – you’re not alone in the dark.

Accompanying the digital version of the game, ‘Tormented Souls’ will also be available as a physical disc or cartridge on PlayStation 4 & Nintendo Switch.

Led to the small, isolated town of Winterlake, something terrible happens to Caroline Walker. Waking in the dead of night, naked and alone, hooked up to decrepit medical equipment, Caroline must fight for her life as she explores the halls of the abandoned mansion.

As the previous inhabitants run amok, you must scavenge essential resources and tools to decipher clues and create a variety of weapons to protect yourself from the darkness within.

Nothing is quite as it seems in Winterlake. Cleverly combine items and scour your surroundings for clues as you face cryptic and unusual puzzles through-out the grounds of the mansion.

Mirrors provide a gateway to another place and time – investigate even the seemingly mundane to discover ways to manipulate the very fabric of reality and seek your escape.

The mansion may seem desolate and abandoned, but the deeper you venture, the more overwhelming the horrors within become.

From terrifying, wheelchair-bound atrocities to vile disembowelled crawlers prowling the halls, these tormented medical monsters aren’t the only threats that Caroline must face. There are also darker threats at play – quite literally. Early on, you are warned not to let the shadows embrace you…
