The Limassol-based (Cyprus) indie games publisher ESDigital Games and indie games developer Courtesy of Endo (Stephen Sanchez), are today very happy and thrilled to announce that their retro-like hand-drawn pixel art roguelike/ARPG “Scholar of the Arcane Arts“, is now available for via Steam Early Access.

In this adventure, you will take on the role of a wizard who must use the knowledge and power of the arcane arts to survive against invaders from the five planes of magic.

As a scholar, you must travel through the five planes learning new spells and combining them into over 10,000 different combinations to become stronger. Find the scrolls of magic, solve puzzles, unlock secret dungeons full of ancient mysteries and defeat the invaders before they destroy your realm – and you along with it!

The developer Stephen Sanchez has also documented the game development process in a series of YouTube videos which are available to watch here. Furthermore, Courtesy of Endo and ESDigital Games will be aiming to push out constant updates and improvements to the game as well as taking into account any feedback from the audience that helps improve the game and in a direction that the community would enjoy the game too. The developer himself will be glad to receive the feedback on a special Discord channel. Stay tuned for future news and updates!

About the game
The Scholar of the Arcane Arts is a roguelike action RPG inspired by titles such as Magicka and Serious Sam Tormental, where you play the role of a wizard charged with protecting the world from the monstrosities that exist in the five different planes of magic hell bent on destroying the world.

Explore the procedurally generated realms of magic where you will find and upgrade a wide variety of spells, mixing them into even more powerful combinations to take on the hordes of enemies and the terrifying demi-gods that rule these dangerous planes. With over 10,000 spell combinations, take advantage of the right spell at each moment to counter, disable and deal massive damage to your foes.

Courtesy of Endo is a one-man Development team established by Stephen Sanchez. He has a passion for video games ever since he beat Super Mario Bros. on the NES. After years of thinking of becoming a game developer was a pipe-dream, eventually he realised and decided to finally take the leap and teach himself programming and pixel art. Feeling frustrated at the lack of video games that gave you the sensation of “feeling like a wizard”, Stephen started work on Scholar of the Arcane Arts in February 2021.
