Press release:
The Warsaw-based (Poland) indie games publisher Star Drifters and Łódź-based (Poland) indie games developer Ringlab, are today very happy and excited to announce that their sci-fi strategy/sim “Scorchlands“, is coming to PC via Early Access through Steam GOG, and the Epic Games Store on February 7th, 2023.
“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” The birdfolk of Giwi took Arthur’s C. Clarke’s words literally and created inventions fused with real magic. In Scorchlands you will colonize the moon of Helia while fighting against dangerous creatures, but also the laws of economics.
The volcanic moon of Helia is a hostile place to live. This doesn’t discourage the birdfolk of Giwi as they try to colonize the satellite. No wonder, since they are masters of technology, magic, terraformation and… resource logistics.
In Scorchlands you will manage multiple colonies, gathering resources and discovering inventions essential for survival in a hostile environment.
The moon’s landscape will change drastically in time – forests, meadows, and lakes will fill the surface and the whole satellite will be crossed with lasers, the means of transportation for resources.
The game’s community will play a crucial role during Scorchlands’ Early Access phase. The creators from Ringlab and Star Drifters invite everyone to try the game out and are open for feedback and suggestions. Below you can find the Early Access road map:
Main features:
Hex grid-based city-building – construct various buildings in your colonies. Each structure’s productivity depends on neighboring resources and other constructions.
Complex resource management – it’s not only about extracting materials. Scorchlands takes account of logistics – the movement of resources between colonies and combining them in robust processing chains. And yes, we move resources using LASERS!
Terraforming for the greater good – use magic and technology to change the biomes on procedurally generated maps and exploit the new environment to gain its unique resources.
Technology designed to give fun – there’s no fun in a sandbox if you don’t have the toys to play with. The technology system in Scorchlands is key for player progression and new discoveries open up new ways to play with the game world.
Minimalistic combat system – when you get into a fight, the positioning will be the key. Destroy your enemies by surrounding them and placing your forces in optimal locations.
