The Bordeaux-based (France) indie games publisher Shiro Unlimited and Paris-based (France) indie games developer Atelier QDB, are today very happy and thrilled to announce that their psychological horror/adventure game “Decarnation“, is coming to PC (via Steam) and the Nintendo Switch (via the Nintendo Eshop) this May (2023), as revealed during Future Games Show Spring 2023.

Glimmering stardom turns to rot for struggling cabaret dancer, Gloria. She’s just about reached a breaking point as every last love she holds is ripped away when an opportunity, bathed in the small light of hope, presents itself. Experience the nuanced story of psychological torment as her wonderful dreams devolve into horrific nightmares.

Wade through surreal interpretations of Gloria’s regular haunts, brought to vivid permanence in her deteriorating mind. Phantasmagorical delusion permeates the air, forcing her to confront hideous anthropomorphizations of her greatest struggles. Complete puzzles and minigames only the strongest can stomach to escape real and metaphorical monstrosities.

Complex themes surrounding relationships, career, self-esteem, and the struggles of life fill this somber tale. Overcome a mix of over 15 different systems and kinds of gameplay, including rhythm, puzzles, stealth sequences, and more to find the goodness amongst the gore in this adventure through the depths of a darkened soul.

Immerse in the bone-chilling pixel art setting with a thoughtfully-crafted soundtrack from stellar minds such as Fleur & Bleu and other partners. Move through disturbing levels to witness how the most beloved 2D survival-horror and adventure-horror games as well as cult movies from Satoshi Kon’s Perfect Blue and David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive blend together to making one uncanny experience.

Atelier QDB is an indie development studio based in Paris, France with an intimate team of experienced developers. Founder Quentin De Beukelaer started the company with over 15 years of experience under his belt, contributing to AAA projects including Assassin’s Creed and Ubisoft’s Ghost Recon as well as psychological horror game Narcosis.
