Press release:
Victoria, Australia – Thursday 1st August, 2024.
The Bellevue-based (Washington, the US) indie games publisher tinyBuild and Torquay-based (Victoria, Australia) indie games developer Drop Bear Bytes, are today very excited and glad to announce that their post-apocalyptic turn-based RPG “Broken Roads”, is now available for the Nintendo Switch via the Nintendo Eshop for $34.99 / £31.49 / €34.99 with an additional limited 20% off launch discount, and PlayStation and Xbox consoles for $39.99 / £32.99 / €39.99.

“Broken Roads” is developed by a passionate indie team of CRPG fans led by Colin McComb, who previously worked on Planescape: Torment and Fallout 2. The game released earlier this year on PC and other consoles and received multiple updates that expanded and improved the experience.

“We’re all really happy to see Broken Roads launch on Nintendo this week” said Craig Ritchie, Game Director at Drop Bear Bytes.

“We designed the game to run great on handheld from the beginning and we’re excited to see what Switch players think of it, especially since they’ll be experiencing the best version of the game from day one.”

To commemorate the Nintendo Switch launch, a new trailer was revealed today, which you can watch below.

“This narrative-driven RPG is absolutely massive in scope and size, bringing focus to meaningful philosophical choices and exploration of a beautiful Australian post-apocalyptic setting”GamesRadar+

“If you like a unique story, an intense adventure and a real sense of decision making, I think this game will be perfect for you and that you’ll enjoy it a lot. Seriously.”GameReactor

More about Broken Roads:
Broken Roads is a narrative-driven RPG that brings exploration, strategic turn-based combat and meaningful philosophical choices to an all-new Australian post-apocalyptic setting. Broken Roads skillfully blends traditional and all-new role-playing elements on top of a classless system offering near-unlimited character development options built around four philosophies: Humanist, Utilitarian, Machiavellian, and Nihilist. Furthermore the game presents players with an original morality system: the Moral Compass which sees dialogue options and questing decisions influence, and be influenced by, a character’s philosophical leaning and the tough decisions they make along the way.
Broken Roads’ locations are all authentic recreated from the team visiting towns and landmarks in West Australia and taking photos, videos and audio recordings for it to be as true as possible. Furthermore, even the game’s atmospheric soundtrack composed by Tim Sunderland is composed with instruments constructed from everyday objects which brings a wholly unique and distinctive tone to the game.

What critics are saying:
“Feels like a classic CRPG… More Bogan’s Gate than Drongo Elysium” – PC Gamer

“Broken Roads is an ode to the cRPGs of old, but it’s also a step forward for the genre, showing that the ‘90s approach still has a place today.” – TheGamer

“One of the most different and interesting games you’ll play this year” – Digitally Downloaded

“A a unique, fascinating, and layered RPG.” – GamesHub
