Press release:
Cologne, Germany, 27th August, 2026 – Bossa Games and team17 have announced physics based 1-4 player co-op puzzle game, What Goes Up for Xbox Games Pass, as part of the Xbox gamescom Showcase. Also coming to PC and PlayStation 5 later this year, What Goes Up sees players employed by GALACTIC REFUSE CO, the galaxy’s most ambitious provider of high-risk junk removal solutions. They are tasked with scouring planets in search of Earth’s finest discarded garbage, cleaning up the mess they find, and then turning it into titanic towers of trash.
Equipped with their grav gun and hover pack, and ready to go toe to toe with gravity, players will explore dangerous planets in search of top-tier trash with which to create their masterpiece of misalignment – building up, down, and sideways to ensure the junk reaches the recovery ship. Players can approach the task at hand however they wish – with careful, methodical planning, each item providing load-bearing support for the next – or, as a mad dash to the top, flinging bathtubs and campervans into the mix and hoping for the best.
Going Up?
Players can grab up to three friends to join them on their What Goes Up adventure (or take to it solo), working together to plan, build, and – probably – panic when it all comes tumbling down because somebody put the hot dog cart in completely the wrong place…again.
Anthony Kyne, Head of Studio, Bossa Games said “What Goes Up started life in a game jam, with a simple goal: give friends a playground where they could build, experiment and cause chaos together. Team17 understood the vision from our earliest demo, and we were thrilled to welcome them on board as publisher. Together, we’ve created a game about ingenious ideas, impossibly tall towers and the hilarious consequences when everything comes crashing down.”
Harley Homewood, General Manager, team17, said: “Bossa Games are renowned in the world of creative co-op experiences, and What Goes Up is, once again, testament to their creativity. We’re delighted to partner with them, and to bring this over-the-top and chaotic piece of puzzle game fun to life on Xbox Games Pass.”
What Goes Up Key Features
1-4 Player Co-op: More hands make light work… or make for more hilarious tower malfunctions.
Hazardous Working Conditions: Lava rivers, electric hazards, bounce pad miscalculations and structural embarrassment are but a few of the challenges that await.
Keep it professional: Hidden amongst the trash – players will be able to find snazzy outfits to spice up their look – just don’t think too hard about where they came from.
Lofty Ambitions: No great tower was built with both feet on the ground, and to achieve the haphazard masterpiece of their dreams, players will need to stack, climb, hover, bounce and improvise their way through awkward terrain.
