Press release:
Madrid, Spain, August 20, 2026 – Games From Spain, an initiative promoted by ICEX, closes its participation in gamescom 2026 with a strong balance of international visibility, visitor engagement and a growing presence of Spanish companies and studios at the world’s leading video game industry event.

This year’s edition of gamescom welcomed 368,000 visitors from 131 countries, including more than 36,000 industry professionals, consolidating its position as the most international edition in its history and the event’s strongest edition since the pandemic. Against this backdrop, the 30 projects selected for the Games From Spain indie zone showcased the strength, diversity and international potential of Spanish talent.

More than 2 million impressions for Spanish projects
The physical presence in Cologne was complemented by a digital strategy aimed at extending the reach of the participating projects beyond the gamescom show floor. The Games From Spain Steam event surpassed 2 million impressions, allowing the participating titles to reach players around the world.

The communication strategy also featured a selection of seven international content creators, strengthening the presence of Games From Spain across several European markets. From Germany, profiles such as Nerdynele and PixelViet took part; from France, David_Kyden and Lepirateroux; and from Italy, Gidano.

The creators not only showcased the games through their own channels, but also visited the Games From Spain zone during gamescom, experienced the projects first-hand and encouraged their communities to visit the space and try them out. The campaign was designed to turn digital reach into physical visits, and vice versa, connecting the creators’ communities with Spanish studios and giving attendees the opportunity to discover and play the projects directly at the event.

This year, Games From Spain also focused on extending communication beyond gamescom itself. Livestreams and content produced by the creators during the week following the event have helped maintain exposure for the projects after the fair, already generating more than 50,000 additional views.
A record number of companies in the Business Zone
The Spanish presence has also grown across the professional area of gamescom. Games From Spain reached a new record for the number of companies participating in its Business Zone, with Blade, Canary Islands Games, Casual Brothers Europe, Cherrytree Studio, Crazy Meerkat, Daimonia Project, Demanzon, Drakhar Studios, El Jap, Forge Play Studio, Game BCN, Honestree Island, Hunting Souls, Kanaegame Studio, Loc & Capture, Loki Games, Ludium Lab, Meridiem Games, Perfect Sound, Rising Pixel, Rolldbox Games, Selecta Playvision, Tellmewow Studios, Tessura Games, Universidad de Alicante, Vermila Studios, Viva Games and Zero Fractions Studios.

This representation is joined by Game EUS, participating with five Basque studios: Ametz Studio, Paranoid Delusion, Kraken Labs, Curly Studios and Xufa Games.

Meanwhile, Madrid in Game is represented by 14 studios and projects: Cherry Tree Studio, Del Cerro Games, Ilogik Games, Krakensden Studios, Mansion Games, Midnight Loop, Mobius Audio, Red Mountain, Scuba Light Studios, Somnigames Studios, Sons of a Bit, The Twisted House, Noctis Games and Whiteboard Games.

Institutional support for the Spanish industry
The Spanish presence at gamescom 2026 also welcomed Luis Mayoral, Director of Creative Industries at ICEX; Carolina Mateos, Economic and Commercial Counsellor at the ICEX Office in Düsseldorf; Rodrigo Díaz and Blanca Torre García, from the Directorate-General for the Regulation of Digitalisation and Audiovisual Communication Services of the Secretary of State for Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence (SEDIA), who had the opportunity to discover first-hand the Spanish projects and companies participating in the event.

Their presence highlights the institutional support for the internationalisation and growth of the Spanish video game industry, as well as the importance of events such as gamescom in connecting Spain’s creative ecosystem with the global market.
