Abu Dhabi, UAE – 17th of September 2026 – Independent developer Why Knot Studio and publisher Red Dunes Games are delighted to fully unveil their enchanting 2D puzzle-platformer, Princess of the Water Lilies Definitive Edition, today on Sony PlayStation 5 on 17th September 2026.

Upon the well-received release of the PC version in late 2025, marking the debut title from this rapidly expanding publisher, widespread community requests for a console edition prompted the development team to begin work. Their efforts have culminated in this exceptional Definitive Edition. Not totally satisfied with the PC release, a number of pivotal features and gameplay elements were worked on and implemented – from the visuals to the main cast, the sound, and even challenges have had major transformations!

Step into a beautifully hand-drawn storybook world, where the magic of animation’s golden age comes alive. Venture forth on a warm and enchanting voyage, with a glorious, live‑recorded orchestral score. Told with grace and few words, this experience is open to all, inviting players everywhere to get lost in a rich, wonderful adventure. Princess of the Water Lilies – Definitive Edition is no simple platformer; explore, fight, avoid, and progress in the game. It is full of surprises with an endearing cast, beautifully crafted scenery and, best of all, challenges. It starts easy, but you’ll soon find devious pathways full of obstacles and some nasty creatures. This nice learning curve is rewarding, as you will soon want to progress a little further and a little more…

Meooow – Magical Purrrrrr!

Princess is a unique, flat-faced cat who was raised by a family of frogs. She has a magical purr that allows her to heal the environment, make plants bloom, activate machines, and restore areas affected by corruption. Bridges rise, and paths appear. Use this gift to solve puzzles and traverse a wondrous, unknown world. Wander through lush, hand-drawn biomes filled with challenges, secret paths, and hidden treasures. Throughout the game, Princess explores forests, caves, and mysterious environments while solving puzzles, discovering secrets, and encountering creatures and powerful bosses. Rather than defeating bosses through violence, she uses her healing abilities to cleanse the corruption and free them, giving the game a peaceful and compassionate approach to adventure.

PlayStation Rules!?

A brand-new gallery has been added, with beautiful hand-painted splash art unlocking as you progress through the game. Boss encounters have also been revisited and refined, featuring tighter attack patterns, more dynamic phases, and improved balance across all difficulty settings. The story has been enhanced with more cinematic cutscenes to create a deeper, more immersive experience, while updated and polished visual effects provide greater impact and clearer feedback during gameplay. New sound effects further enrich the audio experience, and selected in-game assets have been repainted to ensure greater visual consistency. The difficulty modes have also been refined, providing a more accessible introduction to tougher challenges and boss encounters.
