Press release:
Grand Rapids, Michigan – October 12th 2026: FINJI, the award winning development studio behind Overland and Canabalt, and publisher of TUNIC & Night in the Woods, announced today that Usual June is now set for release on January 20th, 2027. These additional weeks of development will allow the team to deliver the quality their fans deserve and ensure the third-person action-adventure game is ready to reveal all the mysteries hiding in Fen Harbor.
Alongside the new release date, the Finji team have published a brand new trailer showcased at The Cozy After Dark Steam event, revealing brand new gameplay footage.
“Usual June’s launch date is now January 20th, 2027. While we are very eager to get this game out into the world, and we could probably get away with blaming this change on GTA 6, the truth is we just want to make sure the launch builds are as amazing as we can. We want to show the hard work from all our brilliant collaborators in the best light possible, and this extra time allows us to do that. This is a truly special game, and the people who worked on it deserve the best launch we can do. Thank you for understanding, and we can’t wait for you to finally play through this whole adventure very, very soon”, Adam & Bekah Saltsman, co-founders of FINJI.
In Usual June, players will get to explore unique locations such as secret labs, buried tunnels, haunted observatories and more, and dive into a beautiful but mysterious other world. They will fight in arenas with fast, fluid, and expressive combat, and as players get more XP and level up, they will gain access to new powers. But these powers come with a cost they will have to discover by themselves.
As neither the living nor the dead can save this city on their own, players will get to talk to a colourful cast of 25 characters to get to the bottom of what is happening in Fen Harbor, using the photographic memories of the dead, and the living’s ability to touch things to find out what is happening before all the ghosts disappear and time runs out.
Developed by the FINJI team, Usual June is led by Creative Director Adam Saltsman (Overland, Canabalt), and produced in collaboration with Writer David Pinckney (Needle & Thread), BAFTA winning writer Cara Ellison (Ghost Town, The Seance of Blake Manor) and BAFTA winning audio director Adam Hay (Dreams, Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture).
Usual June will be launching January 20th, 2027 on PC via Steam. In the meantime, players can wishlist the game now on Steam, play the demo, and stay alert for news on FINJI’s website, Bluesky or Instagram.
