I enjoy games that have a combination of an excellent game-play and great replay value because they make every penny spent on them completely worth it. And you can always go back to playing the game in question, whenever you want to take a break or get bored with other games. Rampage Knights is an action/adventure game that does a truly good job on game-play and replay value front, as the game doesn’t get repetitive and keeps you entertained the whole time you are playing it.

As for the Story of “Rampage Knights” the heroes are on their way back to their homes with all the treasure gained from their last adventure when an evil warlock appeared and stole their treasure, now is up to the heroes (in this case players) to venture into the evil warlock’s castle and take revenge for what the evil warlock did to them. You could say the story is pretty basic since “Rampage Knights” focuses more on the game-play instead.

rampage knights a rainy night

A rainy night is more than perfect for adventuring.

The controls are pretty basic in “Rampage Knights”. As you can move and jump toward every possible direction, there is. However, you can only attack to your left and right. So that´s something that you should keep in mind for sure. Other than that, you can also grab enemies and object to throw them at other enemies, against walls for damage or throw them into cliffs. Depending on the class chosen, you can dodge, cast magic spells or stealth. You can select what items you want to use at the given time. You are allowed to choose which you want to pick up before you pick them up, deciding on what items to pick up is important for it can benefit or the contrary it will give you a harder time.

rampage knights a dirty trick

Sometimes the dirtiest of tricks can save your life.

Don’t let “Rampage Knights” fool you, because the game can be challenging even at the easiest difficulty. Because the only advantage you seem to get from playing on the casual setting, is having infinite continues (which will start you at the beginning of the of the stage where you lost your last life). As for the rest of the difficulties, once you lose all your life you have to restart from the beginning of the game. On harder difficulties, enemies seem to do more damage. So that will leave you depending on evading the enemy’s attacks more than trying to kill them fast. And once you finish the game on the normal difficulty. You will unlock the next difficulty (which is hard, and when you beat the hard mode, you will then unlock the insane difficulty). Furthermore, there is an endless mode where you play until you die.

The maze, enemies and items are always randomized in my experience. Even so, I have yet to run into the same layout on the 10 hours I have put into Rampage Knights. So, what about bosses and boss battles Then? Well, there are four mid bosses in the game. And the encounter with any of them is at random. So you don’t know which boss you will face on each run. And they all have an unique attack pattern. And which once you learn and master the pattern. It will make it easier for you to defeat the bosses. In my opinion, Legion is the hardest of all 4 for he is the only boss who moves around and follows you. The others are stuck on a position.

rampage knights mr sombrero man

Mustache check, Sombrero check. I’m ready to go.

I would also like to point out that “Rampage Knights” have some really nice features, like the very entertaining co-op mode. Which allows you to play together your friends at home, or play with them online. “Rampage Knights” also has a training ground for you to test the different classes and practice the controls so you can get used to them. The NPCs in the beginning will allow you to customize your character’s face, gender and hat. The music makes it feel you are actually on an adventure where you are slaying demons and monsters on the fly.

Pros:
+ Randomize maps each time the game starts
+ Co-op mode
+ Great replay value
+ Small file size

Cons:
– Last boss is easier to kill than mid bosses
– Sometimes you end up getting the same items repeatedly

Gameplay: 4/5
Graphics: 4/5
Sound and music: 4.5/5
Controls: 3/5
Replay value: 5/5

tgg grade 4 out of 5

Verdict: 4/5
I recommend Rampage Knights for it’s a great time killer and good game to play with your friends.
