Seattle, WA – Monday, October 24, 2016 – Materia Collective is very excited to announce the production of Hero of Time, a one-hour album of all-new orchestral arrangements of Koji Kondo’s music from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. While unofficial, Hero of Time strives to be the first dedicated Ocarina of Time album to be recorded with a full studio orches tra. Hero of Time merges professional quality and experience with fan enthusiasm, led by an experienced video game arranger and supported by th e Legend of Zelda fan community through a Kickstarter campaign.
Hero of Time is a musical retelling of the stor y of Ocarina of Time, including key moments that occur before the game’s beginning and during Link’s concealment for seven years. This musical storytelling opens the door to explorethe game’s themes of mortality, impermanence, and coming of age. Eric Buchholz is the lead orchestrator and creative pro ducer for H ero of Time. Eric has contributed to many popular video game arrangement projects including Zelda Reorchestrated’ s massive Twilight Symphony album, The Legend of Zelda: 25th Anniversary Symphony CD that ship ped with S kyward Sword, The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses concert tour, and the Pokémo n: Symphonic Evolutions concert tour.
Sebastian Wolff is the executive producer of Hero of Time and founder of M ateria Collective, an online organization of more than 400 contributing musicians and other artists. Since its formation in the summer of 2015, Materia Collective has released more than 600 new tracks across 12 different albums. The Hero of Time Kickstarter project will conclude this Sunday, October 30th, at 11:59 p.m. PST. In addition to making the recording session a reality, fans who pledge their support may also choose to receive CD albums, vinyl editions, posters, a nd other rewards. Hero of Time is expected to be recorded this December and released in March 2017.
