“Let Them Come” (developed by Tuatara Games) is a Pixel art tower defense/shooter, and you are one man hunkered down with a machine gun with a whole load of bullets. So your job is simple, you simply have to survive and kill a lot of alien scum! As some of you may already know, this little shooter has had quite a lot of success on Steam, but it has now made its way to console. So, is “Let Them Come” worthy of your cold hard cash? Well, let’s find out shall we?

As I was saying. Sometimes you simply need something a little mindless when it comes to video games, no deep stories or over complicated controls just something simple and will keep you occupied for a few hours. It’s games like this that deliver a delicious slice of nostalgia because “Let them come” would have felt right at home on a good ol Sega.

You can upgrade and customize your arsenal as you unlock new items to take down the hordes of blood-thirsty monsters who’re coming your way. Good thing that, trust me, because you’re going to need all the help that you can get!

The task is simple. You’re a one-man army whose mission is to defend his position from an onslaught of enemies. Other than that, you can outfit your character with various upgrades, sub weapons and explosives. So once you’ve been outfitted for battle you only have one task to worry about, and that would-be survival. It’s here where a variety of monsters will converge on your position, eventually you will be over run. However, with each kill you do, you earn some gold that can be spent to make your life easier and of course continue on to future levels.

“Let them come” is pretty darn addictive, and it’s rather easy to pick up and play as well. Furthermore, since the game also offers quite a lot of content. In other words, “Let them come” should keep you busy for hours to come.

The visuals and sound are at a decent standard. Enemies explode into balls of gore, and there’s also a pretty good soundtrack which gives you some encouraging beats to kill aliens too. There are a few other little nice touches to be found in the game as well. Such as where your characters face changes with the rate of fire or takes damage similar to the classic Doom guy. Overall, it’s a nice-looking game. The Gameplay is basic but addictive, like classic arcade games of the past, that ‘one more go’ feeling soon kicks in, even when you die the game encourages you to keep playing by offering a free power up on your next go!

“Let them come” is packed with many monsters, along with some tough bosses. So be sure to make the very best of your ammo, because every single bullet really counts!

You know, now that I think about it. The only down side that I can think of when it comes to this game would be the fact that “Let the come” is obviously a game which would suit a handheld device much better, and believe it or not. The game is available on IOS and Android! So if you’d prefer that head there because it’s only £1.49. The console versions do sport better visuals, but the gameplay remains the same. It just looks a little odd on a 50” screen. I was a little concerned at first in regards to content, but luckily there’s quite a bit on offer, such as a new game plus, and challenge modes so you can hit the leader boards and see how long you can survive.

There is a variety of different upgrades to be found in the game, and that includes everything from drones to freaking lasers!

So all in all,“Let them come” is a nice distraction. Sure, while it might start to feel repetitive after a few hours, it’s still enjoyable for short bursts of fun. Furthermore, there’s a decent challenge to be had and blasting aliens is pretty satisfying. So at £6.49 it’s not a bad buy, but it is cheaper on your mobile device.

Let them come, and meet your hail of bullets! In all seriousness though. Tuatara Games “Let them come” is a fun little tower defence/shoot-em-up game that will keep you occupied for a few hours on your PS4, also well worth a buy on your phone!
